For this article, I interviewed two individuals with two different perspectives of the new popular mobile phone app that everyone has been talking about, Pokémon Go, because all voices deserve to be heard.

Ishickawoinca: Why do people like playing Pokémon Go?

Me: Some people say it is a good physical activity to get them out of the house walking around, it is also a social thing to do with their friends.

Ishickawoinca: Well, they may be out of the house, but they are still just on their phones, is it really all that different?

Me: People are outside visiting the Poke hotspots, such as (at) museums and Riverwalks. Local stores are even getting more business because people are out playing the app and stop in on their hunting adventures.

Ishickawoinca: That’s great, but people are walking around, crossing streets, creating hazards for people walking. Anyone could walk into a stop sign. A guy literally walked into a fountain the other night trying to catch a Pokémon, I witnessed it myself.

Me: What do you say for the people who aren’t creating hazards and are playing the game while paying attention to their surroundings?

Ishickawoinca: Well, that’s good they are enjoying the game. Every once in a while there is a game that completely captures people’s minds. And I’m the type of person where I really don’t like distractions, I have my T.V. shows, my movies, ect. When it comes to something that is 24/7, I don’t like to have something that is so distracting that it keeps you from focusing on the things that matter.

Me: Do you have anything else you want to say?

Ishickawoinca: Well in this game, everyone says we want to join a gym. In reality, they are talking about a damn app on their phone. I’m so happy America is finally being active and joining gyms, but really it is just an app on their phone. Not real life.

Ishickawoinca: There’s nothing wrong with being into a game, but when it involves the whole community: a little girl died trying to cross a Pokémon path, is the game to blame? No, the girl shouldn’t have been crossing the street while not looking. That’s just another example of people becoming completely occupied with Pokémon Go.

Me: Why do you like to play Pokémon go?

Kevin: It gets a gamer active, it gets them out of their seat, any public place you go, you’ll see more than dozens of people playing the game. The regular game system makes the player sit in one place. the phone app makes the player move around.

Me: I heard, that you didn’t like the game at first.

Kevin: It seemed like a battery life sucker, then I saw how much data that it really didn’t use and I didn’t mind it as much.

Kevin: The game also brings back nostalgia, the 150 players who played the game when it first started get a cool feeling.

Kevin: You can’t just sit in one place with Pokémon go.
