Pokemon: Generations is an eighteen-episode long series of animated shorts. The premise of these shorts is to take well-remembered scenes and Pokemon from the video game series, animate them, and string them together in a chronological story, thus presenting the games as a single story in one continuum. This means that the episodes will be entertaining to both the younger general audience as well as older fans of the previous games and even the the originals. And, as of four weeks ago, the release of Pokemon: Generations has begun, and, indeed, it looks pretty promising for veteran fans of Pokemon (that is, children of the early 2000's and the 90s.) And so I present to you, a few reasons why us older fans should definitely take a look at this new series:
1. It's nostalgic.
The premise of the show is to revisit some of the most famous moments from the all of the video game series, as well as feature a variety of Pokemon from each generation. Which means, whether you were a fan of the original games, or are a newcomer, or from somewhere in between, chances are, you're going to find a nostalgic moment in watching the series.
2. There's a new episode out every Friday.
Need I say more? What's better than coming home after a long week at school, work, or both, and watching a new episode of the Pokemon series! This will continue for the next fourteen weeks, and one thing is for sure: these coming Fridays for the next fourteen weeks will not be dull!
3. It's streaming for free on YouTube.
One of our biggest concerns as poor college students is whether we can afford to indulge ourselves in these things of the past - but in the case of Pokemon: Generations, each episode streams for free on YouTube. Furthermore, if time budgeting is a concern for you, there's no need to fret - there are eighteen episodes, and they are each only 3-5 minutes long, so they can be enjoyed in moderation.
4. It's a social event.
As Pokemon: Generations aim to connect the continuity of all of the games, it also promises to bring together not just old friends, but connect players from all different time periods, to enjoy watching a re-imagining of an old (or new) hobby.
