Niantic's new app, Pokemon Go, has been all the rage these days. Being the curious person I am, I decided to download the app and see what all the hype's about. To my surprise, I was quite intrigued.
Pokemon Go is a location-based game where you run around town chasing Pokemon, collecting Poke-Balls, stopping at Pokemon training gyms, and much more! Since I'm a newcomer to the Pokemon bandwagon, I'm only on level five. Level five allows me to play in Pokemon gyms, but I haven't had the time to make it over to one of these gyms. Why is this? Because I'm a working woman and also go to school.
The one thing I will never understand is how Pokemon is taking over worldwide, and let me tell you, there is no age discrimination to this game. Many find this creepy, especially because there has been lots of news coverage in regards to pedophiles luring children with the app. So side note, if you're younger you should definitely find a Poke-buddy.
And, of course, even Donald Trump used Pokemon Go to his advantage...
Restaurants have also taken on Pokemon Go as a way to build their business. Places attract customers by placing features such as Pokemon training gyms at their location. In order for the gamer to gain access to special features on the game, they must step inside the location.
Pokemon Go has also caused many car accidents. States such as Texas have sent notices to the public in addition to highway signs stating it is illegal to Pokemon Go and drive.
The problem I have with Pokemon Go is that I can't stay in bed to play it. When I open an app on my phone, I'm usually resting or about to fall asleep. Therefore, I have absolutely no interest in moving. The game requires us to get up and move around, and lazy people all around the world are in total spite. Shouldn't I be able to play an awesome game on my phone and not have to move more than two muscles? This is America people we don't do physical activity!
However, there are so many incredible aspects of the game that I can't help but keep the app alive and well on my phone, and I can guarantee you I'm not the only one. If you haven't downloaded the latest fad of the century, it's time you get to it.
