Honestly, most of the time I'm not a massive fan of poetry. Poems have to really resonate with me for me to like them, and so I guess you could say I'm not easily impressed. However, if you want to try a poetry book and you don't usually like it, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur is for you
I enjoyed how different this book was. This isn't the type of poetry I'm used to reading, and I found it made it a lot easier and I understood all of the messages shared in the book where sometimes this part eludes me with poetry.
My favourite part of the book was the healing section. I liked this part the most because it was positive, and made me feel inspired and empowered. The other sections, especially the hurting, were upsetting but done very well. I do feel that I felt connected to the book without having experienced anything similar to the first section.
The only negative thing about this book was that I found it hard to relate to, which is not the poets fault. I have never been in a relationship and therefore could not relate at all, but most people would be able to which I understand. One day I'm sure I'll understand the poems better.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I think it gives a great new fresh take on poetry with a feminist feeling done very well. I also loved the drawings! I recommend it even if you aren't usually into poetry. 4/5 stars.
