Poetry on Odyssey: The Story of Him and I

This is only the beginning of the story of us.

My heart beats faster whenever you’re around. I get lost in those big brown eyes of yours and get all tongue-tied. It’s as if the world stopped and the only two people left are him and I. We got that love that no one can compare. It’s the love that people dream of having at least once in a lifetime You have the patience to stand by my side, on the good and bad days.

As Marilyn Monroe once said, if you can’t love me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. You embrace my flaws and guard my insecurities. You uplift me every morning and caress my cheek before I fall into slumber.

My heart yearns for your body to hold me tight, as your body perfectly sculpts into mine.

It yearns for your rough hands to run along the side of my inner thigh. I always try my hardest to remember this exact feeling because if things ever went left, this memory of us will forever remain.

To my lover, I’ll never lie to you. Our souls are intertwined. We are like two flames, moving on our own rhythm. I am able to feed off the energy you produce. So there is never a dull moment that is spent with you.

The memories of us will become stories we tell our children. I’ll start off by telling them about how we used to sit on rooftops just talking about anything and everything until the sun comes up. I’ll tell them how you treated me like a queen because our children, one day, they will date. And when that day comes, they will need to know how they should be treated and how to treat someone they’re having relations with as well.

To my lover, I am glad that I have finally found you. I have had my more than fair shares of heartbreaks. But I do believe that everything happens for a reason... Everything you’ve endured, the trials and tribulations had a purpose. It honestly shapes you to become the best version of yourself.

I no longer feel butterflies when you enter a room. Instead, my heart rate becomes slower as a sense of comfortability. The spontaneous kisses we had will turn into “see you after work” kisses. The highlight of our day will be still be waking up to seeing one another in the morning and going to sleep together. Our legs that were once intermingled with one another, so much you couldn’t tell where it began or ended, no longer into existence. We sleep on opposite sides but amongst your deepest slumber, you pull me closer to you, as if my body brings you peace. These are the moments that I savor. The small things.

To my lover, our love is special. The bond we have will bend but never break. We are in this for the long run.

I am yours and you are mine.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
