Poetry From The Heart

Peering Inside My Heart And Mind

Poetry From The Heart

Instead of an article, I thought it would be nice to share some of my poetry for those who actually read my articles to be able to peer inside my mind and heart a little bit more. I believe very strongly in the reader being able to know and connect with the writer.

Go On Your Way

I woke up here this morning with you on my mind

And I can't help but feel the pain

Cause our love is a rat race, and I keep falling behind

And even if I win there's nothing to gain

I have tried endlessly to brave this storm

But my attempts have fallen flat on their face

When the formation of clouds in the sky forms

I want to stay, but I want to leave this place

So wrap your hands around my neck

Choke me until I take my last breath

And when certain is death

Just go on your way

You deserve better than me

This is your life to be set free

I've been nothing more than your enemy

Just go on your way

I can go through every day and act like I'm fine

But when I get home the alcohol proves otherwise

I've lost all track of who I am and what is mine

And I can't get it back no matter how hard I try

If our love could be replaced I wouldn't replace it

Because our memories mean the world to me

Our memories are what I keep, in mind when I can't fall asleep

They're an allusion of loneliness and company

But allusions make up the world we live in

Artists use lies to tell the truth

If you're a lover in this world you won't win

And the loneliness won't be soothed

So wrap your hands around my heart

Squeeze it 'till it breaks apart

In the end it's just a body part

Just go on your way

Put me back together now

I'll come back to life somehow

My love for you was my final vow

I'll go on my way

Slice

No matter how I slice it there won't be a happy ending

No matter what I think I'm not the only one bleeding

Down is for the pain, across is for the shame

And right now I'm thinking nothing will be the same

I can't hide the scars, they're engrained in my heart

And they've been on my skin since we've been apart

Each time a new mark, each time a new spot

After so long I'm amazed I haven't been caught

I play it off cool, I act like I'm fine

At this pace my life is running out of time

I try to stay strong, but I can't help but fail

I wish that I could make my feelings set sail

They could travel the world and find someone else

But when I'm all alone I'll need some help

I'll need your face, your voice, and your smile

To stay by my side just for a little while

We'll talk like we did and things will go back

Until all of a sudden my way of life is under attack

I snap back to reality and the lights of love grow dim

How can I be happy knowing that you're with him?

That was my spot, my place until my fall from grace

The lights go out and I can no longer see your face

You're now forever moved on away from me

Can we slice this a way to change how it will be?

Downpour

I thought we'd last forever

We'd brave these storms together

But the moment rain came

It washed you away

So I stood alone in the downpour

Not too sure what I was waiting for

Maybe a glimpse of sunlight

To make everything alright

But the sun was hidden behind the clouds

Where it remains lost even now

The rain comes and goes

But I never know

When it will come again

Or when it will be the end

So I'll stay standing in the downpour

Looking for something to wait for

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
