Poem: Inhale/Exhale

That thing that you inhale is what keeps you going

Yes That nicotine is what keeps you alive

At least you think it's keeping you alive

You think that's how all your problems go away

You think that's how you can erase your past

But yet you still don't know

That white straw filled with darkness is what is killing you

But you don't care

You can't stop

You want to

But can you?

It feels so good

You just can't let go

Your left hand is used to holding it between the pointer finger and the middle finger.

But you just can't let go

You need to stop but your lips need to go on the yellow tip

Your lungs need to inhale that smoke

Your body needs to be relaxed

Blowing out the smoke, you think you blowing out all your problems

Blowing out the smoke, you think you don't have to deal with that divorce, or the baby daddy or anybody

Yet it feels so good then you tap those ashes

And remember that you need to stop

You need to quit

You need to stop breathing in those demons and start fighting them instead

When I was a child, I used to look forward to Memorial Day Weekend from the time I returned to school after Christmas vacation. I remember how exciting summer was when I was a kid. I would just be eagerly waiting for school to end so that I could fly to some exotic location with my family for the summer. Or hang out with my friends every day. Or just lay around in bed or read, paint, draw, basically do whatever.
