Where's your first class?

Did you forget how to annotate?

Is that due by midnight?

Why do you always procrastinate?

You always charge your laptop,

Because it's how everyone survives.

You don't take notes by hand-

Now that's uncivilized.

Are your textbooks coming in?

You swear they never will.

But conveniently for the bookstore,

They show up on your bill.

If it starts raining,

You can rest assured,

Knowing your next class is across campus-

And Mother Nature somehow heard.

If class is cancelled for the day,

Don't celebrate just yet.

There's an assignment on Moodle,

I am willing to bet.

Hold on to that syllabus,

To keep yourself in check.

Because assignments keep coming,

And the deadlines are quick.

Your notebook goes missing,

And there's a quiz tomorrow,

So you search for a friend,

Who has notes you can borrow.

If the paper's just three pages,

Go on, say a prayer.

They're usually much longer,

And take many days to prepare.

You've never read so many articles,

Who knew these all existed?

So you have to admit,

Some classes aren't like you predicted.

Your professors seem great,

And your classes are fine,

But the studying is taxing,

And it's hard to find time.

The dining hall made pizza.

Where's that salad bar now?

You promise just one slice,

But grab seven somehow.

Class is in an hour

You've got two more chapter to read,

But you fall asleep instead,

Because a nap is what you need.

Your favorite class is coming up,

So you have your things aligned.

You did some extra reading,

Though no homework was assigned.

You study from dusk to dawn,

For a quickly approaching test,

You know it's going to be tough,

But you remember to try your best.

Your friends keep you sane,

When the work is just too much,

Or you call home to your parents,

Knowing they'll have the right touch.

The campus atmosphere is a blast,

Everyone seems to be cool.

If you didn't know any better,

You'd forget this was a school.

The events never stop,

Your schedule stays full.

'Til you forget what it's like,

For a moment to be dull.

Though the stress always lingers,

And you're exhausted most days,

You love this new life,

In a million different ways.

You discover what you love

Through the classes you hate.

You're a mess by the evening,

But you're still feeling great.

You meet the people you need

By your side through it all,

Who are ready to catch you

When you think you may fall.

You've never laughed harder,

Or faced so much worry,

And you're told to treasure the days

Before they pass by in a hurry.

So you embrace this new world

For all the good and the bad,

And you enjoy the fun times,

Because they're the best you've ever had.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
