To My Pledge Sisters

We went from strangers to sisters real quick.

A little while ago, I sat in a chapel surrounded by girls as anxious as I was, all waiting to find our future home. One by one we got up and said where we had chosen to go, and I proudly announced that "Im going Phi Sig!" By the end of it all, I was surrounded by 10 other girls, and a week later we added our last new member bringing it up to twelve.

Twelve girls from totally different walks of life, every personality and interest you could imagine. In short, we are very different people at first glance. But the thing is, I have never felt so quickly accepted by anyone else in my life as I was by these amazing women. More than anything, we all respect and enjoy what makes us different, and I couldn't be happier with this quirky, beautiful group of girls.

The memories will surely become more numerous, I know this because I already have so many that I hold close to my heart. From meeting each other for the first time and passing around our phones to make sure we had everyone's numbers, to doing each others hair and makeup for our first mixer and laughing the whole time. Singing along to songs loudly, and badly, happens often but comments of, "you're so crazy" are more of a compliment than anything. These girls see, accept and hopefully someday love my brand of crazy.

What we're doing right now is something sacred, something special. Taking a group of girls that might not have known each other before, and forging a bond so strong there is only one word for it, sisters. Not sisters by blood, but sisters by a strong choice to love and respect each other with every moment that comes.

I know our journey is only beginning but I have so much joy and hope for what is still to come. So to my ladies of Spring '17, every moment is ours. I can't wait to see what our Phi Sig future has in store for all of us.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
