A Letter To My Pledge Class

'Cause we're a really big team, we've got some really nice pins.

A Letter To My Pledge Class
Jordan Allevato

Starting from the moment we ran home together on bid day, I knew I was with my people. Repping our three letters, the excitement we had from just being around each other, and overall the love we have in our sisterhood, is all beyond what someone could imagine until they join our sorority. Eventually, people would find how we cherish each other deeply, pull pranks on them as if we've known them our whole life, and make memories every step of the way.

The great thing about our class is that we're there for literally everything. You'll always have someone to pull an all-nighter with at the library, you'll have someone to drive you when it's pouring rain outside and you don't want to walk to class, you'll find your person faster than you think, and let's not forget the binge eating of ice cream after a breakup with a fraternity boy. Most importantly, you'll have the "I hung out with a boy last night" conversation with them and get
approval from your sisters as to whether or not to go after the boy. Through thick and thin, we're always there and supportive.

The night of initiation was one of the best moments of our sisterhood, from that moment we realized we were officially sisters and knew we could do anything possible with each other by our sides. The day after, we wore our crest around school and apologized to our parents for spending good money on t-shirts because we were so proud to be in the sorority. We started to break out of our shells and shared our weirdness, obsessions, and thoughts together.

Cheers to the nights that we will spend celebrating 21st birthdays and engagements, the nights where all we'll do is binge watch "Grey's Anatomy" in the TV room and create inside jokes, the nights we'll dance at fraternity parties wishing it would last forever, and cheers to living up our college years with the people we cherish most. To Sonic and coffee runs, attending philanthropy events, and driving each other crazy when living in-house, we always keep each other on the move and keep memories of "that's where ______ happened, I remember that night like it was yesterday," alive for the next generation of sisters to come.

Every time someone asks me how much I enjoy being in a sisterhood, I'm left speechless because words cannot describe the feeling I am around these girls. I could not imagine not going through recruitment and not meeting y'all, that's how big an impact y'all had on me. There's much more endless laughter, unforgettable memories, and embarrassing Snapchat pictures of each other to come, because our college days are just beginning.

Drake puts sisterhood in the best lyrics, "You're the best I ever had."

XOXO.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
