Finals are here, ladies and gents! If you listen very carefully, you can hear the sobs of college students far and wide as they hunker down and get ready for the hardest week of the semester. The typical routine is gathering up every single piece of paper, every single pen, every single flashcard and every single textbook and basically taking up residence in the library until the week is over. There are a few vices to help out these frazzled students: a HUGE coffee, the momentary escape of social media, a couple Redbulls, and a bomb playlist. Here is mine, feel free to use these songs as a way to escape the pit of doom that is finals week. They all have groovy beats to get you in the mood for conquering whatever is thrown your way!

"Kinda Bonkers" by Animal Collective- this song lives up to its name; the beats of the drums and the many different voices send you to a place far away from your tiny library desk.

"Work" by Rihanna- every time I listen to this song, I am reminded of what a boss I am, and it helps me overcome my writer's block and work, work, work.

"Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac- Fleetwood Mac was sent to us by the groovy gods to help us get in the best moods of our lives. Use that happiness to prepare for your exams.

"Blackbird" by The Beatles- you can’t write while you listen to this song because all you’ll want to do is sway back and forth to the mellow guitar. But after your two-minute 18-second study break, you’ll be ready to take on the world.

"House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals- I don’t know what it is about music from the 60s that get my blood flowing and my spirits lifted, but it works every time. Listen to this song and tell me you don’t feel like writing an entire novel in one setting.

"I Want You" by Marian Hill- Maybe it is the sound of the percussion that sounds like the tapping of a keyboard, but the words pour out of me while listening to this song. I wrote three bullet points for this article while listening to this little diddy.

"Redbone" by Childish Gambino- Donald Glover is a certified genius, so it makes sense that his music brings out the genius in his listeners. Stay woke.

"Hymn for the Weekend" (the original version, not the Seeb remix) by Coldplay- Coldplay has never let me down when it comes to being a perfect study buddy. Chris Martin’s beautiful voice paired with the perfect slow beat makes this song a lovely choice for long nights at the library.

"I Feel It Coming" by Daft Punk Ft. The Weeknd- This song, with the help of the robots, will make you chant “I feel (this A) coming, I feel (this A) coming, baby…”

"In Common" by Alicia Keys- I love Alicia Keys. There’s just something about her smooth, deep voice that makes me want to be the best me I can be. She’s an inspiration.

"What am I Becoming?" By POP ETC- What am I becoming? A lawyer baby! Study, study, study.

"Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac- Yes, another Fleetwood Mac song. They’re great for self-empowerment.

"Make Me Proud" by Drake and Nicki Minaj- Nicki is a BO$$ and this song is about her doing her and getting her degree despite varying distractions. Get that degree, girl!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
