Why Donald Trump Is Toxic for America

For the past 16 years, the United States of America has been the laughing stock of the international political world. And don't point the finger at the politicians -- Americans are the ones who need to be held accountable.

Liberals wave their fingers at George W. Bush and Conservatives swing back at Barack Obama. But ultimately, it is up to the American public to decide on the country's presidency. Both Bush and Obama, despite their overwhelming backlash on every front, were both re-elected for second terms. How is it possible for two people - both of which were so wildly unpopular - to achieve the most important position within the American Federal Government? There is no one to blame but Americans themselves.

Having made such bad decisions in the eyes of the international political world in recent years, it is imperative that we as Americans take the best possible alternative this time around. The question is simple: Is someone like Donald Trump the kind of person that should be the next face of our nation?

America has a knack for making stars out of simpletons, and it's one of our nation's greatest dilemmas. It is too often we see celebrities with no genuine values, yet these figures manage to achieve mega-stardom and wealth. Donald Trump is the perfect example of how Americans manage to make ludicrous people famous. Sure, Trump has worked incredibly hard in his life and has become very successful through his entrepreneurship abilities, but his accomplishments do nothing to positively reflect his character. He is a selfish person who has done whatever it takes to get to the top -- even at the expense of others. Even with that said, it does not change that fact that Americans are willing to overlook major character flaws within people who have achieved a high level of social status.

This is the epitome of what Trump is -- an empty shell of a human being, praised purely on his so-called 'prestige.' He lacks any attributes that encompass what a President should be, yet he is still considered a serious candidate for the office. He has practically gotten away with murder with the amount of outlandish statements he has made about race, women, and immigration alone. Yet his popularity continues to rise in the polls. If this does not prove that many Americans are satisfied with fame alone, I don't know what does.

Politicians have a reputation for being untruthful. Any supporter of Donald Trump will assure you that his best feat is that he speaks his mind. Trump tells us how it is, and is never afraid to do so. While many politicians could certainly benefit from the ability to speak more freely, Trump could definitely benefit from having even the slightest filter. It is truly fascinating the level of ignorance that he manages to spew out on a day-to-day basis, yet garner support for it. It is very clear why Europeans are quick to judge Americans so harshly.

How could a man so brash and shortsighted ever manage to have success within the world of international diplomacy? Trump's personality resembles that of a belligerent frat boy after last call -- bullheaded, self-centered and not taking 'no' for an answer.

While it can be a great feature to speak your mind, it is never good to see things in black and white. That is the only way Trump can see -- he's right and you're wrong. There is no means of debate with him, which could cause a great deal of damage to our already-dwindling international relations. And with his history of ridiculous comments and ethnocentric personality it is very difficult to imagine America becoming 'great again' with him at its helm.

Trump has always been an opportunist. How else could one achieve what he has in his life? But it is important to understand how an opportunist thinks. Not so long ago, Trump was a registered democrat and financially supported other democrats -- even Hillary Clinton. With the failed state of Obama's presidency, the opportunist Trump suddenly jumps ship to the Republican party. This is not a mere coincidence -- it is more than obvious Trump is seeking to capitalize off of the weakened state of the Democratic party.

It is our right and our duty as Americans to cast a vote during the elections. This upcoming election is more important than any other yet in the era of millennials, and it is critical that our voices be heard. Countless celebrities have achieved fame and fortune simply because Americans support their idiocracy. If Trump were to become President, he would represent every thing that is wrong with American culture. It is time to eliminate the false connotation that our 'one vote' does not carry enough weight to make a difference and use the combined force of our many voices to silence the greatest voice of idiocracy in our country today -- Donald Trump.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
