Throughout the past week, if you've walked outside you've probably seen people staring down intently at their phones while attempting to navigate through the streets. This may sound normal, being that it's 2016 and smart phones are a part of everyday life. However this past week has been a bit different in that if you watch these people for a few seconds you'll see them point their phone upward while viciously swiping, hopefully ending with an "I caught it!"
The latest craze to take over the country is PokemonGo, a virtual reality version of the Gameboy Pokemon games. Being a trend follower, I immediately hoped on the bandwagon. Here's the experience I had as told by the most famous Pokemon of them all, Pikachu.
1. When you first download the app.
Such sweet wonders await me...
2. When the server crashes 10 minutes after you open it.
Are you there? Please wake up.
3. When you catch a Squirtle/Bulbasaur/Charmander/Pikachu.
You're basically a Pokemon master, might as well quit now (Ha, not!).
4. When a Pokemon runs away after you've wasted four Pokeballs on it.
Let me love you, dammit.
5. When you walk to a Lure Model Pokestop and meet people who are just as insane as you are.
We're all in this together.
6. When you suddenly have to choose between the blue team, yellow team, or red team.
Although it's not even worth discussing. Team Yellow (Instinct) all the way.
7. When it's 100 degrees outside but you gotta find Jigglypuff.
At least we're all getting some much needed Vitamin D.
8. When an egg hatches, meaning you've walked five kilometers.
Who needs the treadmill? We've got PokemonGo.
9. When you can pick up a PokeStop from your apartment.
Not that you're going to be getting any sleep anyway since you're going to continuously be checking your phone to see if a Charmander is near by.
10. When you're told that different Pokemon live at the beach as opposed to the mountains or the desert.
Gotta go travel the world, see you soon!
11. When you realize a video game has taken over your life.
"It hurt itself in its confusion."
If you haven't understood any of this, give into the trend and hit up the app store and download PokemonGo. None of us are nerds if we're all nerds together.
