Stages Of Planning A Wedding As Told By Carrie Bradshaw

If our favorite gal-pal actually planned a wedding, it probably went something like this.

Planning a wedding is a happy marriage of stress and excitement, and much unlike our favorite dramatic gal-pal Carrie Bradshaw, a lot of girls don’t have friends in high places that do everything for her, or receive a $10,000 Vivienne Westwood dress… So I can only imagine that if she planned her own wedding, it would go something like this:

1. Pure Excitement

When you first get engaged, you aren’t thinking about anything except the end result – being married! You got the perfect guy, the perfect ring, and can’t stop gushing about it.

2. Reality Kicks In

After the initial thrill of being engaged is over, reality sets in and oh s***… you have a whole wedding to plan! It is a big deal. Most girls dream of this day since they were little and it all comes down to the details

3. Dress Shopping

It all looks like fun in the movies – try on tons of gorgeous dresses, drink champagne, and giggle with your girlfriends. It’s not like that IRL.

It’s a lot of squeezing into sample sizes and hoping it doesn’t fall off. It’s exhausting, tiresome, and can result in feeling bummed out if you don’t fall in love with the dress of your dreams.

4. Pleasing the in-laws

Not everyone has great in-laws… so pleasing them during the wedding planning process can seem more like a chore than not. Between the guest list, seating chart, music, and even food, making the future in-laws happy is a headache waiting to happen. Hold off on the eyerolls until they aren't looking. I hear a lot of wine helps...

5. Exhaustion

Coordinating flowers, catering, photographers, and all the wedding vendors can be exhausting. You’d think planning a wedding would be a blast, and it can be, but it can really wear you out!

6. Stress

After the big things are locked down, it all comes down to the small details – and those tend to be the most stress-worthy things: ceremony programs, bridal party gifts, and favors. If you’re not careful, that thing will get overlooked and cause last-minute stress. Just remain calm and don't take it out on the groom! (Not to mention the idea of getting married can cause stress and jitters – just look at Mr. Big).

7. Relief

The day after your wedding is the most relaxing day you’ve had in months. Everything went off without a hitch, you married your best friend, and it was a party that will go down in history. Now it’s time to kick back with your new hubby and enjoy the married life!

15 Times "Parks and Recreation" Summed Up Your Library Experience

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
