I have been to Asheville, North Carolina more times than I can count. My best friend lives in the area, so she's shown me some of the best attractions. I haven't done a few of the activities on this list yet, but I will someday!

1. Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate is definitely the main attraction in Asheville. It is the largest privately owned house in the United States and was built for George Vanderbilt II in the late 1800s. You can tour the house and check out the beautiful gardens. The estate is also home to a winery, gift shops, and a few restaurants.

2. LaZoom Tours

This one is my favorite attraction. You get to tour the city in a purple bus and are both entertained and educated by a wacky tour guide. They have a comedy tour, a haunted comedy tour (the best one), and a band & beer ride (yes, you can being alcohol on the bus). Give it a try!

3. Art Galleries

4. Breweries

Did you know that Asheville is Beer City? There are so many breweries to see and you have the opportunity to try over 100 kinds of beer. There's even annual beer festivals and brewery tours to check out.

5. Blue Ridge Parkway

This parkway runs through both Virginia and North Carolina and is known as America's favorite scenic drive. There are hiking trails, picnic spots, and amazing views to look at. It's beautiful, it's relaxing, and, best of all, it's free.

6. River Arts District

Oh look, more art! You get to meet the artists behind the masterpieces and learn the stories behind their work. You even get to buy a piece of art to take home with you.

7. Asheville Pinball Museum

Yes, a pinball museum exists. There are over 80 pinball machines you can play, no quarters or tokens required. I haven't been here yet, but it's on my to-do list.

8. The WNC Nature Center

The Western North Carolina Nature Center is home to over 60 species of animals that are native to Southern Appalachia. This one is great for children. I mean, who doesn't want to see those adorable river otters?!

9. FOOD

Who doesn't love food?! There are so many different eateries in Asheville, I have lost track. Stay away from those typical chain restaurants like McDonald's and TGI Fridays. Search for the one-of-a-kind restaurants! My personal favorite is Pack's Tavern.

10. Sliding Rock

It's a natural mountain waterfall...which is used as an awesome water slide. You slide down a 60 foot long flat boulder and land in 8 feet of chilly water.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
