Planned Parenthood--a leading provider of "high-quality, affordable" healthcare for men, women, and youth across the U.S.--has been highly speculated beneath the distorted microscope of media after being exploited in a string of poorly-played videos released by a group of extremists. These "investigative" videos like the one above do a sloppy job of convincing viewers that Planned Parenthood runs a black market on "baby parts" (that's right, "baby parts") for its own selfish, monetary-minded agenda. Perhaps the only thing well-played about this attack is that the makers recognized their audience's weakness and used it to their advantage: willful ignorance. Of course the use of "baby parts" and "black market" in the same sentence are rise for concern to anyone who isn't a complete psychopath, but the makers of this video were able to win viewers over knowing the majority of Americans wouldn't take the two extra minutes to investigate what is actually being discussed and instead bite a hook that had not even been properly baited.
America, you have been outsmarted, but that does not mean you can't be brilliant; it just means you're lazy. Join me in using the two brain cells it takes to realize these accusations are completely nonsensical, and let's discuss the truth.
1. Within the first two minutes, it is obvious this video has been highly fabricated. The opening news broadcast is from March 8, 2000. MARCH 8, 2000! That's 15 years ago. The video then jumps to July 25, 2014 (over a year ago now) when the conversation at hand was secretly recorded.
2. "Buying or selling human body parts is a federal felony. (42 U.S. Code 274e)" And that kids is the story of how an extremist group with their own not-so-hidden agenda fooled a sea of narrow-minded people. Present this doctor's words under an altered light, and yes, it seems that body parts are being sold for use...well, in whatever demented way the viewers mind wants to twist it.
*Side note: "AV nodes" and "SA". The USC Keck School of Medicine Glossary of Terms defines the Atrioventricular Node as a "group of specialized cardiac muscle fibers located at the center of the heart, in the floor of the right atrium...The AV Node takes the signal from the Sinotrial (SA) Node, slows the signal down and regulates it, and then sends the electrical impulses from the atria to the ventricles. The AV node regulates the signals to the ventricles to prevent rapid conduction." This gives you an idea of the sort of things studied from these donations.
3. At 1:16 these brilliant cinematographers present an "ACTUAL ORDER FORM"...for TISSUE. So that research can be conducted and medical advancements may be made. (I have scored the StemExpress website and cannot find said form. It was most likely taken down before this outdated video was actually posted.)
4. I invite you to follow the link here http://stemexpress.com/ and educate yourself. Read about the company, the services they provide, partnerships, and how you (yes YOU) can get involved.
5. "...per specimen." If you chose to enlighten yourself and explore the link above, you now know that by "specimen" the doctor doesn't mean a baby leg, liver, or heart. No, she is speaking in terms of blood and bone marrow donations. Every day, individual men and women choose to donate to StemExpress and in turn a rewarded a small monetary compensation, giving anything from whole blood donations at $25 to bone marrow donations at $250. Planned Parenthood does an organization this same exact thing just on a larger scale.
Who is behind this video? The Center for Medical Progress. (Get it? It's funny because according to these videos they're picketing for anything BUT "medical progress.") Meanwhile Planned Parenthood is impacting lives daily with their healthcare and informational services.
