Eight Places to Visit in the U.S.A. During Fall Foliage

The most enchanted and beautiful landscapes with Fall Foliage that will leave you breathless

As soon as summer ends everyone gets nostalgic, days become shorter, the sun starts to lower its temperature with its rays. But one of the best seasons of all waits for us. The hot, sunny days fade away giving space to a cool, breezy air that surrounds us, letting us put long sleeves and jackets on. We can see the landscape changing, the green leaves of the summer months turn slowly into different, beautiful, deep, bright, and warm colors. Wherever we turn, we are captured and surrounded by orange, red, and yellow leaves, an enchanting landscape that leaves us speechless for its perfect beauty. If we walk under numerous colorful trees we are swept up by the charming landscape, by the noise of the large amount of dry leaves on the streets, that it seems as if we are walking onto a colorful path that will take us into a magical world.

Have you ever stopped to think and admire the perfection of nature and its extreme beauty?

The fall season with its fall foliage landscape is just a synonym of how perfect nature can be transformed, slowly and silently, and even if sometimes humans are too busy running around, we must not forget to stop once in a while and appreciate the beauty of nature. Fall Foliage is something incredibly awesome, a beautiful landscape, a magnificent show God and nature give us every year.

Leaves don’t change color everywhere, or all over the world, Fall Foliage can be admired in the USA, especially in New England due to particular trees that grow there. I will list the eight most amazing places to visit between the end of September and the beginning of November. Even if you don’t live in the United States, nowadays, thanks to the Internet you are able to glimpse at the different fall landscapes in different parts of the world from a screen. Of course, it isn’t the same thing as running, walking, or sitting on a bench in Central Park, or just jogging surrounded by the beautiful Fall Foliage in Vermont. If you have a chance, if you want to escape the stressful hectic life in the city just organize a little weekend out of town, take a bus, a train, or a car and visit some of the most beautiful landscapes in the United States. You will remain amazed and speechless.

Lake Champlain, Vermont

Many are the cities in the United States where you can admire the splendor of the fall landscapes, but Vermont is one of the best.Fall is the magical time of the year to visit this city, you won’t regret it. Lake Champlain with its suggestive mountains, lakes, roads, and colorful leaves seems a perfect postcard to appreciate and relax surrounded by a cool autumn air.

Sleepy Hollow, New York

Almost everyone knows this little village in New York. Even if you have never been there, I’m sure something comes to your mind when you pronounce the name of this town. This very characteristic place has been well known thanks to a short story written by Washington Irving, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” in 1820. It is a historical area, and it is also considered the most haunted place in the world. It becomes even more suggestive during Autumn, when all the leaves change color underlining that sense of mystery in the air.

Gillette Castle State Park, East Haddam, Connecticut

The Gillette Castle is a medieval castle that was constructed by William Gillette, an American actor. It seems like a fortress, close to the Connecticut river. This place is so fantastic because it includes not only a museum that is visited regularly by many people daily, but there is an external area of 184 acres full of bridges where you have the chance to hike, walk around, and admire the view. There isn’t a better place to visit this castle if not during fall season. While there you can visit the historical fortress and at the same time treasure this hidden gem that is situated on top of Seven Sister Hills in western Connecticut.

Central Park New York

Central Park is considered the biggest park in Manhattan, New York. It is situated in the center between the Upper West Side andthe Upper East Side. It was inaugurated in 1856 andwas called “the green lung” of New York because it’s the only part of the city away from the pollution of the myriad of cars that travel the city daily. The best time of the year to visit this park is during Fall Foliage, it seems to be immersed in a natural forest away from the city, but the interesting thing is that it is only minutes away from the skyscrapers. The best spot to avoid the confusion of the city. The different colored leaves give a magical and surreal sense of beauty. You can choose to walk around, to bike, to run… or just relax and read on a bench or sit on the grass. Don’t miss it, it will be just a perfect, relaxing landscape, and you will think you are in the movie Autumn in New York with Richard Gere and Winona Ryder.

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal was built in the 19th century, it’s also called the Grand Old Ditch. It connects Cumberland, Maryland to Washington D.C.The canal worked for 100 years as a passageway where coal and lumber were transported to town. Nowadays this unique place is a source for the many hikers and cyclists who go there to admire the scenery. It’s a perfect gateway for families where they can take a Cushwa basin boat ride and appreciate the fantastic scenic railroad. This place is also a great and perfect gateway for young people who want to go on adventures and organize many excursions, like hiking, bird watching, and camping or simply taking a walk where you can admire the breathtaking view.

Tallulah Gorge State Park Georgia

The Tallulah Gorge is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Georgia, especially during fall. Tallulah Gorge surrounds the park and the gorge itself was created thanks to the Tallulah River. One of the most attractive things to visit is Tallulah Falls. The Tallulah falls consists of six waterfalls, the water that flows gives a sense of peace and warmth. There are many activities people can do: fishing, canoeing, picnicking in the large acre that surrounds the park, biking, hiking, and last but not least whitewater rafting. But if you just want to relax, you can marvel at the great waterfalls and breathe a nice fresh fall air, while you are immersed in a perfect postcard that seems painted by God.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Arizona

The canyon was settled in 1931, and it belongs to the National Park Service. The different landscape is very unique, the ruins are the only thing left from the indigenous tribes called Navajo. The very particular thing is the deserted scenery that gives us a sense of an arid, hot, and dry landscape enclosed by yellow, reddish, and orange trees that confer on us a cozy relaxing panorama.

Acadia National Park, Maine

Acadia National Park is a place of rare beauty. It was founded by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. The landscape offers visitors a truly enchanting scenery of rare beauty created over millions of years by atmospheric agents. Entering Acadia National Park, you will be amazed by the landscape in front of you: steep rocky coasts, forests with colorful leaves, valleys, lakes, granite rocks, mountain ridges, fjords, and bays.
