Places To Bucketlist

5 places filled with history, nature and purity to travel to at some point in your life.

Places To Bucketlist

Around this time every year, people are traveling and enjoying themselves on their extended vacations. Soaking up the sun, basking in nature's beauty and relaxing away all of life’s ugly truth.

As a college student, these kind of trips aren’t exactly common nor are they attainable (at this time). As an individual who suffers from the perpetual wanderlust, I usually take this time to create a list of places to go to whenever possible.

Currently, my bucket list is quite long and extensive, so now I will go through some of the places that have made the top five of my summer travel wishlist.

5. Milos, Greece

Greece has always been a desired destination for me and after seeing this particular picture Milos would be the city to visit. As a Greek mythology fanatic, the home of the famous statue of Aphrodite is the perfect place for beach lounging and historical sight seeing.

4. Victoria Falls, Zambia

On the continent of Africa, Victoria Falls kind of puts Niagara Falls to shame. The total height of Victoria Falls reaches around 355 feet and flows around 500 million liters of water per minute.

3. Arches National Park, Utah

While traveling to an island on the other side of the world is nice, to find treasures like this in the same country reminds you how small the world is. Even though Utah is on the other side of the country for me, I would travel through every bad airport to see the stars under the arch.

2. Starfish Point, Cayman Islands

I'm a sucker for starfish and the beauty of the Cayman Islands attract some of the richest people in the world, so of course it's on my list.

1. Dominica

Finally, the island of Dominica has reached its way to the top of my list. Home of some of the oldest people in the world and known as an island that it is often overlooked, Dominica attracted me with its purity. It's an island on the Caribbean that isn't really industrialized and its resources are very close to the source. Most days, beaches and islands are filled with resorts and tourists, this island isn't overcrowded and has so many hidden gems, including hot springs, waterfalls, boardwalks, etc.

Now that my list is over, it reminds me that summer isn't quite over and all of these places aren't as out of reach as many think.

My goal is to at least travel to three out of the five before I die and I don't want to necessarily be a tourist, I want to experience each one as a whole as much as possible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
