I look at the pink carnation in the vase next to my open window. Outside, the rain is beginning to slow. I'm at my computer, trying -- and failing -- to be productive. Something about that little pink carnation in front of the dark, stormy backdrop captures my attention. I sit for a moment, just staring at it. It's odd how something so small and ordinary can somehow manage to seem extraordinary under the right circumstances. I'm still not really sure why, but the sight makes me feel a bit nostalgic.
It's so pretty. If only there were a way...
Suddenly, I remember my camera. I get up and grab it from the hook in my closet, then walk over to the window where the pink flower sits, so vibrant against the somber background. I try to find some decent angles, and get a couple of nice shots. There. That simple, brief moment would now be preserved for a long time to come, just the way that so many other innocent moments before it had.
