I have always been the kind of person that has their nose in a book. I have been a book lover since I was little. I was a fast reader; I was able to read small chapter books by the time I was five, and by the time I was in the second grade I was able to read books that most third and fourth graders were reading.
In my library I have around 500 books, that are physical, bounded books. I am an advocate for bounded physical books. I tried to use E-books for a short period, and while I was trying E-books I found that my love and passion for books became to be vanishing.
Using E-books I found, that the connection that I had with the book that I was reading was nonexistent. I lost one of the things that I loved deeply about reading.
Being able to turn an actual page in a book is something that makes reading so nostalgia to me.
Using E-books you save up space, you don't have to make space in your home for books, but at the same time, I love walking into my room and seeing my bookshelf filled with all of the books that I have lost myself in.
The cost of buying E-books compared to buying physical lybounded books is ten timeless. An E-book cost around $2-5 and physical books cost upward to $10-20. But, you can always find decent books at second-hand stores and elsewhere for a good price if you care to look a little harder for them, and don't mind if they are fairly used.
I am not saying that E-books are not the same as reading a physical book, or that you can't get the same enjoyment out of them versus a physical book. I am saying that I personally choose physical paper bound books over E-books. I have a few reason why I choose physical books over E-books:
1. E-books are an electronic device.
These devices can (and will) break/ stop working at some point, or newer technology will come available. And then you will want to upgrade to the newer version.
2. You never have to worry about having to plug in an actual book, like you do with an E-book.
3. You never need to have WiFi to read a book.
As compared to an E-book to which you either need WiFi to read the book or to download the book that you want to read.
4. You never have to take a break from reading because of a screen.
5. You can actually judge how much the book is left by the amount of pages that are left.
6. Being able to put the book that you just finished on a shelf.
7. Being able to look at all the books that you own and have read.
8. You can get the satisfaction of turning an actual page in a book, rather than a pixelated finger turning the page.
9. You're able to write in the margins of a physical book.
10. Physical books are easier to share with your friends.
11. Physical books have book jackets, and they allow others to see what you are reading.
I will always choose to have physical books over E-books.
I understand that E-books can have benefits, but I am an old fashion book reader, and always will be.
