We've just entered spring and I know many of you can't even begin to think about summer right now, but it's approaching quicker than you think. Summer is one of the main seasons where everyone plans to actually enjoy themselves and not just constantly work or go to school. Everyone is gonna be scrambling trying to have a activity filled summer trying to avoid doing things repeatedly like for example going to the beach or going swimming. It all depends on where you live to find some activities/events that are right within your neighborhood. Your city or town should have a website in which many events including local news and information will be listed, do your research because you may be saving a lot of money since some events in your neighborhood are FREE.
What are some of your goals to accomplish this summer? Whether it's to continue to take college courses, get a seasonal job, go on vacation or just relax there's nothing wrong with any of these choices. You just have to make plans that are best for you, in which you will need money saved if your planning on taking trips since summer time I believe can be another expensive time of the year other than prior to New Years. So if you are a Philadelphia resident like myself, you are lucky because there's lots of local activities/events you can get involved in this summer.
One trademark activity that all Philadelphians love to participate in is skating! Whether it be ice skating or roller skating it's a pretty fun activity that can be for the whole family or a group of friends. Penn's Landing always hosts skating events, and they just added roller skating during the summer time. The skating rink is near "The Harbor", located near Columbus Boulevard. It's affordable skating that costs less than fifteen dollars, but one of the cons is that there is a time limit to your skating...so you can't skate till you drop!
If you like swimming there's many public pools available all over Philadelphia, the few that I'm familiar with are located at the areas of Hunting Park, 11th and Masters Street, one near Susquehanna Avenue, and there's also a pool at the YMCA near Broad Street and Jefferson Street.
Take a trip down South Street, they always have some cool clothing boutiques and restaurants. There's a thrift shop on Germantown Avenue which I've heard sells clothes for just a buck and have some of the coolest vintage clothing.
If you're into music events go to the Mann Center near Fairmount Park; they have awesome performances by well known artists.
Travel downtown center city Philadelphia and sit in Rittenhouse Park, such a distinct area where all the millennials seem to gravitate to.
Visit museums. Trust me, it will be way more fun and interesting than when you were in elementary school. The Franklin Institute, Art museum, etc. there's a lot of museums I can't even remember all the names of the ones I've went to right now, but most of them are located in center city Philadelphia.
Therefore, there will be many activities available for Philadelphia residents and visitors/tourists this summer and if you need any other locations just let me know!
