Phase 1. Being Anxious.
You are in a constant state of online searching for cute apartment ideas that you tell yourself you're going to do. You're so excited about the thought of moving into a place that is entirely yours (plus however many roommates you have). You already have so many plans that you can't wait to make into realities, and you just want move in day to be here already.
Phase 2. Stress.
Okay, now you're moving into the apartment, and you're freaking out because you realized that only one of the infinitely many ideas you had actually worked. You do things to try and prove how independent you are, like building your desk by yourself, only to find that you can't even lift it out of the box. Plus, you didn't realize how little like an adult you were until you actually moved in. What things go in the refrigerator? What can't go in the microwave again? Why is my washing machine making scary sounds? Oh no, now I'm going to have to be the one to kill the spiders on the wall. You have so much more responsibility now, and that's pretty terrifying.
Phase 3. Comfort.
You've finally hung up all your pictures on the wall and gotten your room to look just right. You've figured out the washing machine is just old, it's doing it's thing, and it's nothing to be scared of. You've discovered how to not starve, and you're making friends in your building. You can finally rest easy and enjoy what's inevitably going to be an amazing year. As for the spiders... let your roommates take care of those.
