Everyone's going out experience is different. However, from personal experience, I'm pretty confident this is a pretty accurate depiction of the mental journey we all embark on in the process of a night out.
1.The Hype Phase: Once you and your squad decide to go out, you’re all more than stoked to go make some memories and maybe snag a shirt.
2. The Planning Phase: You get into a stressful planning frenzy (especially if you’re the mom of the group), and you have to have a ride there, a ride back, know where you’re going and in what order, and find the most sensible outfit to wear. Usually, this phase gets put onto one person.
4. The Tired Phase: (also called Stick in the Mud Syndrome)You’ve turned this night into something much larger in your head. After a long day of class, followed by errands, and eventually getting ready to go out, you feel so tired the second you finish your mascara. You consider something along the lines of “well I have a test next week. Maybe I shouldn’t go out tonight.”

5. The Uncomfortable Phase: You let your friends convince you that going out tonight is vital to your health or something, and you end up at whatever party, bar, or event that you realized isn’t worth these expensive (yet sensible) wedges. You start looking for a menu or anything that can distract you from the fact that you can't socialize.

6. The Beyoncé Phase: You finally hear the song. Your song. The only song that will make you start dancing at any moment in any situation. You and the gang gather in one spot and the only way to describe the way you feel is “Beyoncé.” There you are, dancing with your people, having the time of your life. For tonight.

Nothing can brighten a day more than dancing in a group of people who care about you and love you for yourself. So, in a way, this is an ode to my girls, who always put up a fight with me to get me out of my Norts, into those wedges, and out to make some memories.
