Moving back to school is a process without a doubt. There is so much you have to do in a little amount of time. You go through so many different emotions and you began to remember that you have to actually go to class again. It is exciting moving into a new place with friends and seeing the people you missed all summer. A new year may mean a more challenging one but nevertheless you still are super happy to back at your home away from home. Coming back to school can be equally the most stressful, exciting, and fun time all at the same time.

1. Freaking out over packing

Packing sucks. You never know what you are really going to need or not. You also don't want to bring too much but then you do not want to be left with an empty room either. Sometimes this just leads to a meltdown and overpacking in the end.

2. Then dreading unpacking

Unpacking sucks too. Now you're mad at all the random things you thought were necessary to pack. You just have boxes everywhere and no where to put anything.

3. But feeling so happy once you've decorated everything

Once you get your life semi-together, and the walls are decorated you begin to feel a little bit more relieved. Things don't look so bare and your room looks like someone actually lives there now.

4. Overall excitement of seeing your friends

After a couple months away, your friends should just expect to get tackled. There is nothing like reuniting with friends after a long time away. You have to catch up on everything you have missed over the summer.

5. Re-adjusting to having cafeteria food or cooking for yourself

Cooking is not your greatest skill so as soon as you move in every cooking adventure is a guessing game if you will burn your apartment or dorm down. Nothing compares to home-cooking and eating the same cafeteria food everyday will not get better...so getting yourself mentally prepared is a must.

6. Trying to make your sleeping schedule normal again

After staying up long nights and sleeping in, it is back to normal sleeping schedule. Trying to not fall asleep in class the first couple of weeks should be interesting.

7. Not to mention, getting used to going to class all the time instead of avoiding all your responsibilities

You can't just be music festival hoping and trying not to look at books anymore. You have to get back in the groove of long nights writing papers instead of late night drives. You have to get used to more responsibility.

8. Lastly, enjoining drunk nights during Syllabus week with friends

Nothing is like going out with your college friends again. Especially, during the easiest week in the year, you have to take advantage.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
