My Personal Views On Abortion (Part Four)

You probably have figured out my position on abortion at this point if you have read all of the previous articles. If you haven't read them, please do before reading this article. But before I state my position, let me just say I never expected my articles to change anyone's minds on the issue. I am just sharing my personal perspective on the whole issue and what I have learned.

At the least, I want my articles to engage everyone's critical thinking on the issue, not solely their emotions. I hyperlinked many cases or studies that I referenced, which I hope shows that I have seriously considered the topic. And I want to make it clear that even though I did four articles on abortion, it was impossible for me to cover every single point or scenario. It was only enough to show that I am not someone who name-calls, attacks another person's opinions, or that promotes taking sides. As long as that mentality of attacking continues, then the question of abortion may never be solved. Sad to say, it is the same mentality dominating our politics right now between Republicans and Democrats.

Now that I have acknowledged that, I will officially state my position on abortion. I am pro-life.

I believe that abortion is taking the life of another human being. Since statistics have shown how abortions are mostly for unplanned pregnancies from consensual sex, it is not fair for unborn babies to lose out on life due to someone else's actions. They did not ask to be formed in a woman's womb, it only happened because a man and woman decided to have sex. If you cannot take care of the child, then put it up for adoption. At least that child will get to enjoy life like you and I do. Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, was almost aborted by his mother, but he was put up for adoption. That iPhone in your hand may not have come as quickly if Steve Jobs never existed.

Abortion is described as a woman's right and radical feminists have embraced this as a virtue. I am not anti-woman, I am glad that more women are entering the workforce, especially leadership positions. As far as I know, women have the most rights in the West than anywhere else in the entire world. I am glad that women have had a chance to prove themselves in positions previously dominated only by men. But I think feminism has gone too far now, specifically with promoting abortion as a woman's right that is under attack by men. It is not under attack by men, there are plenty of pro-life women from different backgrounds and beliefs. The right to kill someone just because they inconvenience you is immoral, just like it is immoral for us to kill disabled elderly people who need around the clock care.

Politically, I think each state should decide for itself whether abortion is legal or not. It is a divisive issue and even though I am strongly pro-life, I don't know the right answer legally. I think at the very least, the heartbeat bill is a good idea since that confirms life. In cases of rape or incest, I would personally let the woman decide if a heartbeat is not detected. However, I think doctors should recommend adoption since the rape was not the baby's fault. It should not face the consequences for the rapist's actions.

If you are pro-choice, know that I don't hate you or believe that you want to kill a baby. I think that you have been misinformed by a biased media and misguided culture. That is not your fault, everyone has been affected by those two things, including me. I ask that you keep an open mind and really consider your stance. Use your logic, but also consider the universal morals and virtues that unite all human beings, regardless of culture or religion.

I also ask that you try to see where I am coming from. Click on the hyperlinks in my previous articles, look at the evidence I present. Then, listen to debates on abortion and do your own research. Do not just take a scientist's or a journalist's word for it on whether abortion is right or not. Heck, don't solely take my word for it. A really good discussion that is outside of mainstream conversations is Candace Owens interviewing Lila Rose. It is not a scientific discussion, but it brings a different perspective on abortion. They also talk about what is healthy sex.

This was a hard series to write about. Don't worry, these are the only articles I will write on abortion. I hope these articles gave food for thought and got you to think. At the very least, let's be civil in our discussions and actually listen to what others say. And let's be open to the truth and not look for what we want to hear. I pray that someday the nation will be united on what to do with abortion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
