Taco Bell has recently released a new type of taco that I personally have never heard about before. Named "Naked Chicken Chalupa", the taco itself has no hard or soft taco shell; it's literally fried chicken serving as an outer layer for the ingredients inside which include lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and an avocado ranch type of sauce.
Honestly, when I first heard about this type of taco, I was a bit caught off guard with my immediate disinterest in it. I am NO healthy eater whatsoever, but the idea of fried chicken acting as a taco shell really through me off. This was especially due to the fact that Taco Bell is not a fried chicken chain like KFC or Popeye's. How good could it really be? Even though I really didn't want to, I had to find out for myself.
I am here to settle all curiosities about the chalupa. How is it?
Amazing.
The inside ingredients tasted the same as a normal taco from Taco Bell, which I always find good honestly. Taco Bell is one of my favorites. However, the chicken that serves as a shell exceeded my expectations. I personally didn't find my taco to be too greasy or too crunchy the way some chicken items may be. But the thing that truly made the Naked Chicken Chalupa so amazing was the sauce that was inside of it. I, under any circumstances (except this one I guess), will ever like the taste of avocado. It has never appealed tasty to me. But this sauce, a creamy green sauce, absolutely made the chicken taco so yummy. I was truly shocked, and so was my best friend who tagged along to try it with me.
So, if you're debating on whether or not you should try the Naked Chicken Chalupa from Taco Bell, I say go for it, especially if you love both fried chicken and tacos. But I would suggest going to Taco Bell quite early in the day if you're on the look-out for this taco. They do tend to sell out quite quickly. You won't regret at least trying it just once. If I'm being completely honest with you here, I've got one sitting right on the side of me as I type this, waiting for it's doomed end.
