I'm The Person That Always Gets Sick During Finals Week

My immune system either has the worst timing ever or I'm just extremely unlucky.

I'm The Person That Always Gets Sick During Finals Week

It's the week before finals, and of course, I would get sick. When else would I get sick if it wasn't during a crucial week where I need to be on my A game? Thanksgiving went great, and then all of a sudden, it hit me the next day. I'm not sure if being stressed and sleep deprived on Black Friday had anything to do with it, or if I had picked something up while at work or out shopping, but whatever caused it sure does owe me an apology. This sickness hit me like a ton of bricks, and I definitely do not have the time for it right now.

I don't get sick very often, but when I do, it completely takes over my body and ruins any chance I had at being productive. I am such a baby when I'm sick. All I want to do is lay in bed, sleep, and be taken care of by my family. Some people are able to still kick ass and get through their day as they normally would when they're sick. These people are obviously superhuman, and I would give anything to be like them or to know they're secret.

Not only does sickness completely take over my body and motivation, but it stays with me for what seems like forever too. What would normally take a person a few days to get over a sickness, it takes me over double the amount of time for me to get over it. I'm not sure if I just have a weak immune system or what, but I would love to figure out new ways of how to kick illnesses out of me sooner.

With that being said, I have two papers, a presentation, a project, and two finals exam to complete and get good grades on within the next week, and here I am laying in bed, praying that I can get rid of this illness as quickly as possible. This always seems to happen to me. My immune system either has the worst timing ever or I'm just extremely unlucky. Either way, I'm still here popping Vitamin C like it's nobody's business. Let this be a lesson to all of you and remember to always wash your hands and do everything you can to boost your immune system around finals week.

Finals week is crazy in itself and is a prime time to get sick. You're stressed out, sleep deprived, not eating right, and you have way more important things going on than making sure you're taking care of yourself. However, always remember that there is nothing actually more important than taking care of yourself and keeping your health, both physical and mental, in check. I know during finals and other stressful times in our lives we tend to forget that. So in the weeks leading up to finals or whatever stressful events you have going on in your life, just remember to look after yourself first. Nothing can run smoothly if you're not feeling your best.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
