Things are constantly changing. However, even though the world is changing around us, it’s easy to feel like we are stuck. Like we aren’t progressing or we are stuck in a bad state of mind. How could we not feel this way? It’s so incredibly easy to feel this way because when we feel like we are getting over one bad situation, society throws another stressful situation right at our faces and we are just suppose to take it. We can feel trapped in stress and pressure to always be doing the right thing or getting the best grades or socializing. No matter how good our life is going, one stressful situation can turn it all around. But for some reason that doesn’t seem to be the same when our life isn’t going so well. When life isn’t going so well, good situations only make it better for a little bit and then it goes back to being stressful because it’s easy. It is so easy to get worked up about things because society tells us we should. Of course we should worry about every possible outcome, because we have to mentally prepare ourselves for the worst-case scenario. Why in the world wouldn’t we feel stuck in stress? It’s the normal thing to do.
I am here to say enough is enough. Yes, it is hard to get out of this stress and we may never stop worrying about things. However, we can work on letting the good in our life outweigh the bad instead of the other way around. I would like to think if we started pointing out the good things in our day instead of dwelling on the stress and coming p with new situations to worry about, then we’d feel a lot less stuck. We also need to remember that the place we are in now, is not going to be the same place we are in a year from now or even three months from now. So no, sometimes you can’t control the stress that is thrown at you, but you can control how you handle it. I’d like to think if we handled it in a more positive way, then we can throw that ball of stress right back in society’s face and show society who is boss. Society should not run our lives. Our lives are not determined by society. We are not stuck.
