Perks of Being a Teacher's Pet

Making the grade isn't always easy

Everyone has heard that being a teacher's pet is "dumb" and people shouldn't do it, but should we really listen to that advice? You can decide for yourself after hearing these reasons why it is good to be a teacher's pet. You don't have to be obvious about it, but getting the teacher to like you is very important.

1. It is way easier to get an extension on a due date.

As a teacher's pet, this one shouldn't be used very often because teachers love work being done on time, but in those few times that something comes up and you can't finish your work on time, this is key. Teachers are often iffy about giving extra time, but for their favorite student, they will be willing to make an exception.

2. Scheduling is way less stressful!

Being locked out of a class or put on the wait list is no fun for anyone, but for teacher's pets it is not as stressful. All you have to do is email the teacher and they will more than likely offer to push you up on the list. Even if you have never had the professor before, word spreads, and they hear how great you are and will push you up.

3. Grades are better

Teachers tend to grade their favorites easier, so therefore teacher's pets tend to have better grades than the rest of the class.

4. Mean professors aren't so mean.

There are many professors out there that aren't the nicest, admit you even thought of one reading this sentence. Despite them being a little unfriendly, they still have their favorites, and they treat them a little better than all the others. If you're not a fan of those nasty teachers, be extra nice to them and do what they say; it goes a long way!

5. You get random compliments.

Teachers usually like their favorites for a reason, and they are more than happy to tell them why. Sometimes they stop their favorite after class and tell them they would love to see them in other classes (more reason why they bump them up in scheduling) and how good of a student they are.

Now that you've seen the perks, you can make an informed decision. It is a lot of work, but once you do it so long, you become a natural, and it really takes no effort at all. Just remember, they are people too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
