After getting over the fact that you won't be going to school for an awkward amount of time, the only thing to do is try and make the best of the summer you have at home. Living at home isn't all that bad once you get past the "no freedom" stage. I've found the light at the end of this long tunnel after living at home for my first summer back from college. Now that I realize it, it's very nice.
Free Food.
There's nothing anyone loves more than free food, and you can quote me on that. After living at school, where you have to pay to eat anywhere that is not the dining hall, I'd say living at home and getting fed for free is a pretty good tradeoff.
Laundry.
Even though I have been doing my own laundry for many years, it is nice to not have to do it inconveniently, and in the basement of my dorm building. Did I mention it's also free?
Comfy Bed.
Okay, I know that beds are only for sleeping on, but for some reason the mattress makes all the difference. I love being in my own bed snuggled in my cozy million-year-old blankets. They make watching Netlix feel a whole lot better.
Spending Time With Family.
It's always hard leaving the friends you met at school, but the good part is that spending time at home is special. I realized how much I missed everyone right when I got back.
So, there you have it. Coming home for the summer isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. After a few days, it feels just like it did before I left!
