With social events going on around you everywhere that you want an invite to, and thousands of faces passing you everyday that you want to meet; it's easy to love your outgoing friends that ask for invites and introduce themselves to random people. Our society caters to the extroverts, looking at introverted people as a personality flaw. After all, in every great rom-com the shy girl in the beginning is always "fixed" by the end to be a wonderful social butterfly. Being introverted isn't a weakness, it's a strength. And if you don't have an introvert in your life, here are six reason why you should:
1) They're great at keeping secrets.
They're practically a locked safe. You can tell them anything, and they put it under lock and key. Need to confide in someone about how embarrassing your night out was? Tell an introvert! They don't feel the need to constantly talk about everything, and so your secrets will never accidentally slip out of their mouth.
2) They know all the gossip.
They listen more than they talk, and their great confidants, so they know everything. They know why Susie broke up with Jake, and where Kimmy was when she wasn't with you. Introverts are a wealth of knowledge on other people's lives.
3) They always know the best shows.
They prefer to spend a Friday night in netflix and chilling with a bag of chips and some salsa than to go to the bars. Therefore, they've seen every show and know what's hot and what's not. Thinking about watching Hemlock Grove? Ask an introvert! They'll know whether or not it sucks.
4) They keep you rational.
When extroverts are freaking about because they're extremely exhausted, but know they're something going down, and introvert will be there to tell them that FOMO is bullcrap. Introverts spend almost every night in, and they still have just as many friends (if not more) than the extroverts who go to everything social even they can. So when you need someone to convince to spend a night in you PJs eating and binge watching Disney movies, ask an introvert; they'll know exactly how it can be the best night of your life.
5) They'll always spend a night in with you.
When you do need a chill night, and introvert is always there ready to make mac and cheese and watch all the Grey's Anatomy you missed while you were fraternizing with drunk frat guys.
6) They're a good person to call for an emergency DD.
Since they probably didn't go to that huge party everyone else you know went to, they probably aren't drunk. So when you need someone to pick you up at 2 a.m., they're the person you should call. Even if they're mad you dragged them out of they're perfect bed, they'll still love you and help get you home in one piece.
Shout out to introverts everywhere for keeping our secrets, keeping us safe, and keeping us sane!
