So you've seen the campaigns and the flyers. There's even a whole month dedicated to it. Bullying, especially in elementary schools, has caught the attention of the 21st century soccer moms and they won't stand for it. There are programs that have been implemented to attempt to end bullying once and for all. It's great that bullying has become such a huge topic, but what about all of those 90's kids who feared the school bully back in the day when bullying wasn’t such a hot topic?
Well, I'm here to tell you nine reasons you why your days of learning that you resembled gremlin, your intelligence level matched that of Karen Smith from Mean Girls, and eating alone at lunch time will give you the upper hand in your college years.
1. You have your priorities straight.
You learned at a young age that your opinion is what has to matter at the end of the day, not the opinion of your classmates. You can't please everyone else forever.
2. You found your strengths early in life.
While a bully can make you feel like you are good at almost nothing, you found that special talent that just couldn't be tamed.
3. You're tough
You won't go crying to mommy and daddy every time something doesn't go your way. You learned how to deal with life's Regina Georges on your own, and thank god for that, because they never actually go away.
4. You have a real and genuine story.
Everybody loves the underdog. Tons of movies are based on the underdog coming out on top. Well, you're it. Look at how far you've come.
5. You're compassionate.
You know what it's like to feel alone in the world and you wouldn't put another human through that same torture. So even if she did wear sweatpants, you'll still sit with her.
6. Your college experience will be awesome.
When you get a bid into the sorority you were dying to join, your first 4.0 semester, a scholarship to run on the track team, or the cute waiter's phone number, you will appreciate your accomplishments because you overcame so much to get this far.
7. You will rock job interviews.
Being bullied means defending your weaknesses. This is also essential to mastering an interview. You have learned how to turn your weaknesses into strengths and this is what will give you the cutting edge to score an awesome job someday.
8. You are down to earth.
You could grow up to be hotter than hell in July during your college years, but you will never be caught flaunting it. It takes a very long time to regain confidence after having been bullied as a child. Even when you get some of your confidence back, you will never be obnoxious about your looks. Everyone hates that girl.
9. You won't be forgotten.
Being bullied shapes you. While many let this define them, you simply let it perfect you. For this you are unique and you are beautiful. You should be proud that you didn't let some bully defeat you. Now, you will watch as karma comes back to bite her.
