The Perfect WKU Bucket List
Sid Hilde

Going to college is an experience, so why not make it the best one that you can possibly have? WKU has my whole heart, and after graduation I don't want to look back and regret not doing a single thing. So here's a list of stuff to do before you kick the bucket... No, not the actual bucket, but the metaphorical bucket that is graduation.

1. Pull an All-Nighter in Mass Media

Probably as the result of some major procrastination.

2. Experience At Least One Tailgate

Even if it means just walking through to get to your car.

3. Stand Under The Guthrie Bell Tower As It Rings

You'll have to time it perfectly to check this one off

4. Kiss Someone On The Kissing Bridge

...Well maybe someday...

5. Lay Out On The Colonnades

It's the perfect place to spend those nice fall afternoons at.

6. Hug Big Red

He's just so cuddly, how can you resist?

7. Scream.. I Mean Sing The Fight Song At A Football Game

Show that Hilltopper pride on gameday!

8. Run Through The Compass Fountain

I've always wanted to do this, just be warned... It's one of the busiest spots on campus, especially on nice days.

9. Go To A Party

Even if you do what I did and leave after 5 minutes. Heck just do a quick walk through just to say you did.

10. Meet Gary Ransdell

Also, call him 'Gare Bear' he loves it. Okay, maybe not really.

11. Get A 4.0

Lol. Or just do the best you can. Maybe one semester it'll happen...

12. Meet Your College BFF

You know who you are...

13. Join A Club

Or twenty, whatever makes you happy.

14. Find A Professor That You Love

Shoutout to my theatre appreciation professor from freshman year.

15. Eat At Every Restaurant On Campus

Be sure to hit my faves: Izzy's, Panda Express, Burrito Bowl & Davinci's.

16. Ride A Bus All The Way Around

Get on and off at the same stop, no cheating.

17. Attend Dance Big Red

It's for the kids y'all. Go dance your heart out and save some lives.

18. Go Ice Skating At The Farmer's Market

It's beautiful and such an awesome Bowling Green thing.

19. Skip A Class

Sometimes it's okay to treat yourself by not going to a class.

20. Stand In The Van Meter Fountain

While you're up there turn around and soak up the view.

21. Get A Parking Ticket

They give these out like candy, so it shouldn't be that hard to check this one off.

22. Spend The Day At Spencer's Coffee Shop

Study or hang out with friends, it's the perfect atmosphere.

23. Check Out The View From The Top Floor Of PFT

WKU is beautiful, all year round, from every angle, but get the full picture at PFT.

24. Go On A Day Trip To Nashville

We are so lucky to only be 45 minutes away from one of the coolest cities. Take advantage of that!

25. Go To Your College BFF's Hometown

And vice versa! Show them who you were before you came to college.

26. Fall Asleep In A Building Other Than A Dorm

You may not actually mean for this to happen, but it can happen anywhere... the library, Snell Hall, DSU food court.

27. Find Your Favorite Off Campus Place To Study

Mine include: Starbucks, Spencer's, & Panera

28. Participate In Homecoming Parade

Either by being in it or show school spirit by watching from the sidewalk.

29. Make Your Own WKU Bucket List

Personalize it and make it your own.

30. Graduate

Hopefully...

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
