Do you ever have those moments when you're browsing your well-loved Netflix account for a good movie to watch so you can wind down and relax on a Friday night from the stress of the entire week, but don't know what you want to watch? While flipping through the many movies included on Amazon Prime, I came across "The Magic of Belle Isle" starring Morgan Freeman as a novelist of Westerns who's lost his drive to write and is stuck on Belle Isle for the summer, dog-sitting his nephew's dog. I don't know about you, but when I hear the name Morgan Freeman, I immediately associate him as God's voice in the "Bruce Almighty" series. So his role in this film made it refreshing and different for a change. Below is summary of the film and why it is perfect to watch for a Friday night-in:
"The Magic of Belle Isle"
Morgan Freeman stars as the main character, Monty Wildhorn, an alcoholic author of western novels who has lost his drive upon the death of his beloved wife, Mary. He settles in the small town of Belle Isle and dog sits his nephew Young Henry's dog, Ringo (Spot). "The Magic of Belle Isle" tells the story about the importance of imagination and true friendships as seen in the budding romance between Monty and his attractive neighbor, Mrs.O'Neil (Virginia Madsen), a single mother with three daughters. Mrs. O'Neil's middle child, Finnegan O'Neil, has taken a keen interest in writing stories and is curious about Monty's literary hiatus; and becomes Monty's pupil as he serves as her mentor in the role of imagination.
Reasons why this is a perfect movie to watch on a Friday night-in.
1. It has a happy ending. No tears will be shed here watching this movie.
2. It's a beautiful story with great acting and gorgeous cinematography, making it seem very true-to-life, with the embellishment of imagination here and there.
3. Morgan Freeman (not cast as God's voice).
Give it a watch on Amazon Prime and see what I mean!
