The Perfect Christmas Playlist to Get You Through Finals

The next week or so are some of the worst of the year, but what better way to improve them than Christmas music?!

So it's everyone's favorite time of year. These two weeks of hell before we all get a month off to recoup from school and spend the holidays with our families. Everyone is so tired and ready for the semester to be over, but I think I speak for most everyone when I say we still have a few hurdles to get over. Namely finals. Despite the increased chances for anxiety and crazy amounts of stress, there is one thing that may help lower those a little bit. Christmas music! It is that time of year when the always upbeat songs start flooding the airwaves. Typically, I am not a huge fan, but just like everyone, I have my favorite songs. So I have compiled a playlist, not only for my own sanity, but hopefully for everyone else's as well. Here are some of my favorite tracks from the compilation:

1. Winter Wonderland/Here Comes Santa Claus by Snoop Dogg and Anna Kendrick

So if you haven't seen Pitch Perfect 2, you may not know this perfect compilation exists. Do yourself a favor and watch the movie, highly recommend. But if nothing else, you can enjoy the song and try and distract yourself from your ever-growing to-do list. (If nothing else, watching the movie could be used as an excuse to procrastinate... oh wait. I meant recharge!)

2. I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayle Peevey

This is actually one of my all-time favorite songs. It's just so fun. If nothing else, it will let you forget your stress for a few minutes.

3. Santa Claus is Coming to Town by The Jackson 5

When I think of Christmas's from my childhood, this song is always in there somewhere. And I think that is true for most people. It is just one of those Christmas songs that you can't help but like, especially when it's sung by the Jackson 5!

4. You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch by Thurl Ravenscroft

I think it is fair to say that "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a quid essential holiday movie. Whether you prefer the original, animated version (my fave), or the less great Jim Carrey version, the movie just wouldn't be complete without this song. Needless to say, it's a holiday must. Plus you can always rework a professor's name in to amuse yourself while finishing up assignments.

5. Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano

My. Favorite. Christmas. Song. EVER. Plus, you'll be singing and dancing along, so you'll forget all about the ever-growing pile of work you have to do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
