To Whom It May Concern,

I know you may feel worthless. You may feel like no one cares about you or loves you, or feel like everyone in your life would be better off without you. You may feel hopeless and abandoned. Lonely. Empty. Lost. You may feel stuck or close to giving up.

Now, I am not here to tell you that you'll be okay, or "it gets better." In some cases, sure. Everyone is different. Everyone handles situations and emotions differently.

However, I am here to help you move forward. Yeah, I know today may be really really bad, but tomorrow might just be bad, or it may just be OK. I have had my fair share of really bad days followed by okay days, but I do know what you are going through.

I know what it feels like to feel lonely and scared. I know what it feels like to feel hopeless. I have felt all of those things before, and here I am, having a decent day, telling you to have a better one. It is all your choice. Listening to sad music and feeling bad for yourself is not going to get you to a better day.

You have to start by thinking you are going to have a better day than yesterday. No matter what the current situation is. Even if there are people in your life that cause you pain, you have to believe in yourself that you can move past this. In 1, 5, 10 years, this will not be you. You will be better. You will have moved on. You will be having better days.

So, I need you to hold on. Try again tomorrow. If tomorrow sucks, try again the next day, but keep on fighting. Fight your inner demons and put every ounce of strength you have into that smile. Prove to yourself that you are better. You will be better. You can be better. Do not back down to any distress that tries to ruin your moment. Your moment of happiness grows as you begin to shine through all the darkness in your mind. Do not let those negative thoughts keep you in captivity from your angels. You have to keep your mind, and body in sync.

Breathe.

It is OK to take a break from your life. It will be there when you are in a better state of mind. So, take my strength in exchange for one more day. Give me hope that you will be here tomorrow. I need you here.

I need you to move forward. I need you to use every bone and muscle in your body to take another step forward. Each day is a new beginning. Make it your's. Hold on to what you have left of yourself and start to build yourself up back to the person you were, and if you didn't like who you were then build a better you. Become a person who is not afraid to stand up for what you want. Be loud and creative. Be intimidating and strong. Be opinionated and understanding. Be the best version of yourself and then be better.

Sincerely,

Irelyn

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
