To The People Who Care Too Much

Here's a little something for the people who have been told they "care too much".

To the people who "care too much" about anything and everything, there isn't much you wouldn't do for others and I think that is something to be proud of. I know a handful of you and I know there are many out there in this world who have been told to stop being "so emotional" or to stop "caring so much", but I think you're great just the way you are.

To the people who "care too much" about people who have left them or never stayed to get to know them, I am proud of you. You may always care about them, but know that it's not your fault they missed out on an opportunity to get to know someone who is as great as you are.

To the people who "care too much" about academics, there is nothing wrong with wanting to succeed. I know some people may say that you're too focused or that you should lighten up and have some fun, but you are focusing on something that is going to better you for the future. Never let someone try to convince you that your hard work isn't worth something. Everything you are working on has a purpose and I'm proud of you for wanting to do great things.

To the people who "care too much" about music, play on. If you love music and it's your passion, don't let others tell you it's a waste of time. If music allows you to express why you are the way you are, or why you do certain things, keep showing the world through your compositions.

To the people who "care too much" about people who don't want them, it's going to be okay. If you think that no one will ever want you, know that someone will. It may or may not be soon, but know that you are not alone. You have friends and family who want you in their life and they are happy to have you around.

To the people who "care too much" about loved ones they've lost, you are allowed to be upset and grieve anyway you need to. You are a strong person who, just like everyone else, needs time to come to terms with this loss. You will make it through this.

To the people who "care too much", you are allowed to feel what you want to feel and never let anyone tell you different. They don't know how you react or respond to certain events or people in your life. If you feel strongly about something that someone else doesn't, that doesn't mean you're weird or too emotional. I know sometimes it may seem like caring so much can cause you heartache or problems, but keep caring because there are people out there who are grateful for your kind heart and your thoughtfulness.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
