The second half of the second semester is one of the best times of the year. It’s warm, and there is so much to look forward to as a Penn Stater. I bet all students can relate to being excited about at least one of these aspects of Spring at PSU:

1. The Blue & White game.

OH MY GOD, FOOTBALL! We’ve been deprived for too long. Memories of tailgates and touchdowns are beginning to scratch the surface in our minds again and we just can’t wait any longer! Bring out your pompoms, lion ears, paw print stickers, and jerseys – it’s almost April 21!

2. Movin' On.

Penn State’s annual end of the year music festival is always a great time. With this year’s headliner Logic taking the stage, this will not be an event you and your friends want to miss!

3. Rita's Italian Ice opens.

Rita’s Italian Ice is officially open again as of the first day of Spring! There may be snow on the ground currently, but don’t let that stop you from treating yourself!

4. The NFL draft.

With many former Nittany Lions in the draft, including THE Saquon Barkley, all Penn Staters will be in tune with the NFL Draft this April.

5. Baby Barkley!?

The longtime rumor and now fact leaves all Penn State students eager to know as much as they can about Saquon Barkley and Anna Congdon’s baby! What will they name it? Boy or girl? I know I’m excited to see pictures, aren’t you?

6. Sitting outside on campus.

Whether you find yourself on Old Main, the HUB Lawn, or just in the grass outside of your dorm, sitting outside in the warm sunlight makes doing homework seem like not the worst thing in the world.

7. Hiking Mt. Nittany.

Feeling adventurous? Grab a couple of your friends and get out there! Pick a sunny but slightly breezy day and enjoy a nice hike. Great way to bond over how out of shape you are or to capture the #perfect Insta pic.

8. Going out without freezing.

Put away your frackets (Frat jackets) and throw on a tank top! Whether you’re going out at night or during the day to a daylong, not wearing layers is something to look forward to for sure.

9. Turning off the heat!

In the winter, Penn State building temperatures are definitely set by Satan himself - especially Forum. You may be all bundled up and still be cold outside but as soon as you enter almost any building you automatically find yourself profusely sweating. And don’t forget about the CATA buses. Dear lord those are nauseatingly hot and crowded in the winter. Bye-bye, no thank you!

10. It's baseball season.

Calling all cleat chasers! Or just fans… Either way, baseball is an American favorite so throw on some PSU gear, grab some popcorn or a hotdog, and make yourself comfortable in the Medlar Field stadium seats.

11. Summer.

The second semester means it’s almost Spring, and Spring means it’s almost Summer and Summer means no school! If you can survive your finals, you’re in the clear and you’ve made it another year! Time to go home and relax and enjoy all things Summer.

12. Graduation.

If you’re a senior, you may or may not be looking forward to this aspect of Spring. An exciting yet scary new step into the real world is quickly approaching! No matter where you end up, you will always be a Nittany Lion and have a piece of your heart in State College, PA.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
