I was recently reading,"Jesus Today", a devotional for kids by Sarah Young. The passage was called Put Down the Pebbles. She asks you to imagine yourself walking along a beach covered in pebbles. You stop, you pick up a pebble. She says every pebble on that beach represents a problem. It can be your problem, a friend's, or a family members'. You examine that pebble so closely and so intently. You bring it so close, you loose sight of the beautiful ocean right in front of you. You put down the pebble just to pick up another one. She later compares the ocean to God. You are so focused on that pebble that you forget to pay attention to God. Just like that optical illusion you have lost sight, you have become blind. Jesus wants us to put down our problems and allow him to help.
"I am like the ocean- endless and amazing. I'm asking you to put down all the pebbles of problems. Then you'll be able to "see" Me and feel My love" ~Sarah Young
When we lay our problems down, and set our sight on Jesus, a burden can be lifted, He now has the ability to help us. We spend so much time almost consumed by our problems we end you pushing god out. We prevent Him from helping us. Keep your eye on Jesus, make your troubles lessen.
Today I choose Jesus, today I choose to see Him. I choose Him not my problems. I want this to become a habit in my life. I want to always choose to see Jesus over any trouble I may have. This is truly a habit that will lead me closer to God.
"So all of you, holy brothers, should think about Jesus. You were all called by God. God sent Jesus to us, and he is the high priest of our faith." ~Hebrews 3:1
Prayer: Hey God, it's me. Today I have decided to put down my problems. I choose to see You, to feel Your presence.I will not ignore You. I do not want you in my blind spot. I want me focusing on You and not my troubles to become a habit. In Jesus name, Amen
