College, a time of stress, adventures, schoolwork, adulthood and so many other things. Sometimes we get so caught up in all of these things just trying to balance life and feel like we are so overwhelmed. As I come up on finishing my first semester of my Junior year I have looked back and realized how fast it has gone. So I decided to show that besides all the stress and schoolwork, what we really will miss about college.
1. Freedom.
Sometimes I feel like we forget just how nice it is to be who we really want to be. We can make our choices to do what we want to. If we don't feel like going to class, we don't have someone telling us to do so (Not necessarily a good thing, but you get my point). We don't have a curfew and we make our own house rules.
2. We can make mistakes and people understand.
It's college, everyone is going to do dumb things and wish they hadn't. Let's all admit we have those things we think about and wish we could take it back. We are all learning who we really are and are on our own for the first time. We are trying out new things and becoming the adult we want to be and everyone gets that. It's completely okay to mess up, it's just a human thing.
3. You aren't in class for eight straight hours.
In my opinion this is one of the best things, everyone (especially me) loves sleep and in college if we don't want to be up at 6 am to be ready for school by 7 we don't have to. We can take late classes and sleep until noon and you can have breaks between classes to relax and spend time with friends and go outside or go on a random adventure. Seriously not having to spend my whole day in a classroom has been one of the best feelings.
4. Friendship and adventure.
Friends, I hate to break it to you but we are all growing up and you know what that means eventually we have to graduate and go off and get a job and continue on with our life. Now not to be serious and upsetting to anyone (I'm not a very serious person at all) but college is going to done before you know it. I've already had friends graduate and communication is so tough once someone is gone, we are all busy people. Enjoy every second you have with your friends and the memories you guys make. Take time for adventures and late night conversations, tell your buddies you love them. The time is very short so make the most of your friends and cherish living this close to them while you can.
5. Naps.
Another important one here is naps. Sleep is always going to be an issue in college you feel like you will never get enough of it. Luckily this is where naps are the best thing ever. You have a little break, why not take a nap? Are you stressed? Take a nap. (I don't advise that if you have stuff to do because then it makes things worse) But the point is that as we become adults and maybe have a family and jobs and so many other responsibilities naps aren't as easy to come by. You honestly can never go wrong with a nice quality nap.
6. Meeting new people.
It might just be where I go to school but people are so easy to meet in college, everyone is just trying to figure things out and feel like they fit in. Getting to see a smiling face on campus is something you get to enjoy everyday while you are in school. Anytime you are at a party or at some social gathering such as a sporting event you meet so many new people who share the same passions as you.
7. Sports.
Football, Basketball, Baseball, Volleyball, Soccer, etc. There are so many sports you can enjoy in college, whether that be intramural sports or going to the tailgate and enjoying a good football game with some friends. This is the one time where if you are a person who likes to enjoy sports you can participate in them with your friends or you can go to them for a reasonable price or for free (depending on what it is and where you go to school)
Honestly college is and always will be some of the best years of your life and are meant to be cherished. Soak up all the moments you have because they go fast and then all you'll have is the memories and a few crazy stories.
