Despite the 25-degree weather, my first visit to Seaside was breathtaking. Between the light pastel colored homes to white sand and clear water this is a perfect getaway place and is conveniently only a couple hours away from Tallahassee. While my own little getaway only lasted a day I learned of the great beauty of Seaside and will return when it’s not quite as cold.
Seaside offers beautiful architecture in the form of pavilions; each and every pavilion was designed uniquely and placed on each street. These pavilions are meant to be inviting, the architects envisioned them to be a gateway for the people of Seaside to come and go freely from their home to the beach. Being from Jacksonville, where we only have the pier and a few basic wooden boardwalks connecting you from the town to the beach, you could imagine my awe looking at these beautiful pavilions.
While the beautiful beaches of Seaside caught my attention there was no ignoring the food trucks lined up along 30A. From family style BBQ to organic juice smoothies you can find anything you are craving, my personal favorite the fresh squeezed Lemonade from Frost Bites. While in Seaside I learned that these are permanently parked food trucks for people to enjoy everyday.
While falling in love with the big windowed houses, and delicious gourmet food trucks I couldn’t help but love Seaside a little more after finding out that The Truman Show was filmed there. I am a big Jim Carrey fan; I love all of his movies so I thought it was so interesting that the movie was filmed in Seaside.
Even though my Seaside visit wasn’t as long as I’d hope it be, I know that I will be back to visit this iconic beach town again.
