The Perfect Day Part 7: Facing Truths

Here I am once again continuing my homage to soap operas with my own series, The Perfect Day and now I bring you part 7. But first the recap. In the last chapter of the perfect day Carl and Rachel seemed to not be able to stop thinking about one another. Rachel was finding it hard to concentrate on her work in Chicago and Carl was having the same thoughts about her in New York. Then Carl called Rachel and he asked that they talk. Now the continuation.

“Why do you mean you want to talk, Carl?” said Rachel.

Carl took a few moments before answering her.

“Look, I just need to see you.”

The moment Rachel had longed to hear for a long time was finally here.

She paused for a few seconds. Then as she wiped the tears from her eyes responded.

“It’s too late, Carl!”

“What do you mean it’s too late?” asked Carl.

He seemed a bit confused by her statement.

“Look, Carl, let’s not do this right now!”

“Rachel I just wanted to clear the air on the way I acted when you came to see me.”

Suddenly Rachel felt stupid.

Oh my goodness

Boy, do I feel stupid!

“Rachel are you still there?”

“Yes, I am here Carl, just very busy today.”

“No, I understand, so am I,” he said.

But what Rachel didn’t know was that Carl was looking at a picture of them.

He had saved it and never told her.

“Listen I have to be running now Carl, I have a meeting with a potential client.”

“I understand Rachel; I hope to see you around.”

“Yes, I hope to see you around too.”

After they hung up Carl felt like he made a big mistake.

Why did I let her walk away again?

Why couldn’t I just tell her how I feel about her?

Damn, now I feel like I have lost her.

Back in Chicago Rachel was a mess. She needed to get out of the office for awhile.

I need to take some time off and then come back and be ready to work.

It’s time to move on!

She was just getting to her car when she overheard someone calling her.

“Rachel Smith.”

As she turned over to see who it was. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Wow, Jackson Mills!”

“Goodness, Rachel how long has it been?”

“Oh! I don’t know maybe 3 years since school.”

Jackson was a classmate of Rachel’s and he had always wanted to be more than friends.

Rachel had never thought of him as more than a friend and was glad to see him.

“I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time?” he asked.

“No, I was heading to grab a bite to eat,” she said.

Jackson could not help but stare at Rachel. At the same time, Rachel could not help but stare back at him.

This is exactly what I need to forget about Carl.

“Do you mind if I join you, Rachel?”

“Not, at all Jackson.”

“Well do you want me to take my car?” he asked.

“Sure, I can leave mine here.”

Then they drove off to have a nice dinner.

Back in New York Carl could not help but feel trapped.

Damn it! I am not sure what to do!

On the one hand, I have Kolby who I planned on marrying

and then she betrayed me.

But now things are different she is having our baby.

Still, I can’t help but think the baby isn’t mine?

Then there is Rachel.

I can’t stop thinking about her.

I am not sure why I had to hurt her the way I did?

I feel so trapped.

Kolby’s controlling all I do.

I feel like her damn puppet!

But it is only a matter of time.

I don’t know how long I can pretend to love her?

Carl was so wrapped up in his thoughts and staring at the picture he did not see Kolby coming behind him.

“Carl what’s going on with you? she asked.

“Nothing, just busy working.”

He quickly tried to hide the picture in his coat pocket.

But it was too late. Kolby had been able to glance at it.

“Carl, Why were you holding a picture of you and another woman?”

“Kolby it’s nothing!”

"No, I demand to know!” she screamed.

Kolby’s blue eyes were full of rage and tears.

Carl knew he had to tell her.

“it was a picture of both Rachel and me, back in Chicago.”

Once he said the words. He saw the tears in her eyes.

“Why do you want to hurt us?” she cried.

“Kolby baby no.”

She began to grab her stomach as Carl tried to calm her down.

As he embraced her in guilt. Kolby smirked.

I promise you Rachel Smith you will never have Carl and I will also make you pay!

I hope you will tune in next time to Part 8. Until next time!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
