1. Be a hard worker like Leslie Knope.
If you have watched the show for a little or a long time, you have probably picked up on Leslie Knope's incredible work ethic. She is always well-prepared, optimistic, and passionate. We can all learn a thing or two from this waffle-loving protagonist.
2. Be caring like Ann Perkins.
Leslie described her best as a poetic noble land mermaid. Ann is always there to help her friends whenever they may need it. Ann is a registered nurse which shows her caring nature.
3. Be ambitious like Tom Haverford.
Tom is the epitome of an entrepreneur. Whether it is concocting his own craft liquor, Snake Juice, or starting a successful bistro, Tom is always dreaming big. Tom is always thinking of something new.
4. Be candid like Ron Swanson.
Ron is nothing short of a straight shooter. Ron always tells people what he is thinking, even when it is not what people want to hear. Ron doesn't beat around the bush-- he burns the bush and just tells you what he's thinking.
5. Be happy like Andy Dwyer.
Andy loves to have fun, even if "fun" means dressing up as a ninja and performing kid-friendly songs under the alias "Johnny Karate." I think all too often we get caught up in or daily routines and forget to have fun and find happiness in the little things.
6. Be self-aware like April Ludgate-Dwyer.
April knows what she wants and does not let other people's ideas get in the way. She does not let anyone impede on her plans in any way. Sometimes she scares people away, and other times her passion (mostly just for dog parks, Orin, and Andy) deters others from acting.
7. Be able to accept failure like Jerry Gergich.
Whether it is Larry, Jerry, Terry, or Barry Gergich/ Gengurch they all are able to accept failure. Jerry does not let his blunders keep him from trying again. In fact, they inspire him to try harder. Yes, he may mess up a lot. Well, actually all the time, but that does not keep him from trying.
8. Be agreeable like Ben Wyatt.
Ben may not always see eye-to-eye with other people, but he is still able to keep a level-headed, cool temper. One thing that makes Ben perfect for Leslie is that he is very reasonable, which in many cases Leslie can be the exact opposite. Being able to be disagree with someone but still be kind to them is an incredibly important lesson.
9. Be optimistic like Chris Traeger.
Chris can spin literally anything in a positive light, whether it is Leslie Knope's campaign blunders or running several miles — he can do it. People, myself included, always want to focus on the negative, but there is some good in every single thing. Focus on that, and you'll be like Chris in no time.
10. Be able to love yourself like Donna Meagle.
Donna is all about Donna. She knows the worth of herself and of her Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV. Donna does not change for anyone, and she is confident in who she is. Donna's self-love is something that should be emulated by all who love her wit, her part-ownership in the Snake Hole Lounge, and her wisdom.
