College. The best four years of your life. Also, the time when weekly, even daily mental breakdowns are totally normal. Staying up until early hours of the morning just because you have that one super important whatever to work on.

We have all been there. But what sums college up better than the good ol' people of Pawnee Parks and Recreation department? This zany group really tells it like it is. So here is College as told by Parks and Rec

1. When you show up and wonder how the hell you even got here.


2. When you realize no one else knows what is going on either.


3. When you get desperate in the food department.


4. When sleeping just becomes a chore


5. When your friend offers to buy you food.

6. Then when you get paid and you basically go shopping because you can.


7. How you feel when you have had your third mental breakdown of the week.


8. When you have to keep your friend from texting that gross frat boy back.


9. When you are the one that needs to stay away from the frat boy.


10. Bonding with your roommate at four in the morning.


11. When you get points for attendance.


12. The feeling you get when your parents ask you why you don't talk about your friends.


13. Cheating on your work because it's due at midnight.


14. When your friend asks you to go out on a Tuesday night even though you have a 9am

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
