15 Things I’d Rather Do Than Find Parking At Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has gotten rid of parking this year and it has cost me over $100 to get a special parking pass to park in a place so that I'm actually close to my classes. You know, the actual reason why everyone buys a parking pass in the first place. So, here are 15 things I would rather be doing than trying to find that one parking spot that has somehow been left on campus.

Wait in line at Turner

I'd rather wait in the Qdoba line at Turner at prime time.

Get 300 parking tickets

Getting a ticket for parking in the only spot left is way more convenient than actually looking for the area that you're allowed to park with you $$$ parking pass.

Take the bus AKA Sardine Can

I'd rather have to be told to take backpacks off and move to the back on a hot August day.

Crack my iPhone screen

I'd rather have to pay $200 to get it fixed because hey, still cheaper than buying a parking pass.

Wait in line at the DMV

At least I would know that I would, eventually, get things done rather than not be able to find a place to park.

Have to take 8am's for my entire college career.

Definitely would rather wake up at the crack of dawn than fight for parking.

Have a 7:45 a.m. Final Exam

Every day for the two weeks of finals

Wait in traffic on I-81

Yes, I'm talking about game day stand-still traffic.

Live in an overcrowded dorm room

That dorm room could be a study lounge turned into a four-person dorm room, either way, better than looking for a spot to park on campus.

Get 390 canvas notifications per day

They could all be about new assignments; I honestly would not care.

Never win football student lottery tickets

With me being a girl who loves football, finding parking would still be 100x worse.

Run out of Dining money

and have two months of the semester left and miss every day of chicken parm

See my ex every day on campus

whether it's in dining halls or classrooms, I'd rather see him every single day.

Live without AC, Again

Time to go buy 10 box fans which is still an easier fix than having to drive around campus searching for a parking spot.

Get ghosted once a month...

... by every guy on tinder.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
