A Thank You Letter To My Parents

You have given me so many things to be thankful for.

A Thank You Letter To My Parents
Olivia Nemitz

Thank you. I can’t say that enough.

Thank you for everything that you’ve ever done for me and everything you will do. You are without doubt the best parents I could ask for. I know that sometimes we butt heads and I don’t communicate well but I want you to know that I’m working on it. I will not be amazing at communicating with you overnight, but I’m trying day by day. I may be quiet sometimes, but it doesn’t mean that I’m trying to hide anything from you. If you ever have anything that you want to know, just ask me and I’ll be more than happy to tell you.

I’m sorry I don’t spend as much time with you as I should. I want you to know that it doesn’t mean that I love you any less. No matter what I say or do that may tell you otherwise, I am always going to love you more than just about anyone else on this planet. Even though I’ve grown up and I’m more independent which means that I don’t need you as much anymore, that doesn’t mean that I don’t need you at all. I don’t think there will ever come a time when I don’t need you at all. Sure, one day I will move out for good and I’ll have my own family that I’ll have to take care of, but I’m always going to be your baby and I’m never not going to need and want a mom and a dad.

I’m so thankful for all that you’ve done to get me to this point in life. You’ve done so much to raise me right, and I hope you know that it has not gone unnoticed. While I don’t always express just how thankful I am for all you do, I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have you as my parents and for the love that you give me constantly, even when I feel like I don’t deserve it.

Thank you for going above and beyond to fulfill my every need. Thank you for believing in me, even when I didn’t have the ability to believe in myself. Thank you for showing me love on a daily basis and for loving each other the way you do. I hope that one day I have a marriage that is as strong as yours. Thank you for instilling wholesome values in me since day one. Thank you for showing me the importance of family. Thank you for always making our family a priority. Thank you for keeping me from doing things that would hurt me and thank you for being gentle and understanding with me when I disregard your advice and get hurt anyway. Thank you for challenging me and encouraging me. Thank you for showing me what a strong relationship with God looks like. Thank you for every hug, every word of advice, every prayer, and every shoulder to cry on. Thank you for coming to every choir concert, sporting event, and awards ceremony that you could (and everything in between). It may seem like the number of times I said thank you was excessive, but I think that this is just a small fraction of the thanks that you deserve for being the amazing parents you are.

I love you forever and always.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
