In a world where marriages are quick to end, my parents have lasted through it all.
My parents still tell each other they love each other every single morning and night. They still act like two kids who have just begun dating. And, sure, they argue, but that's normal. You should only be worried when you don't argue. My mom says you should be comfortable enough to tell your significant other how you feel, even if it's not the same opinion.
My dad still makes playful banter with my mom. When he sees a skimpy bathing suit in a store, he teases her to try it on.
My parents still go out on dates and still hang out and drink with their friends.
They're inseparable. So, what's the secret? How do we keep our marriage alive throughout everything?
Well, according to my parents:
1. Listen to your partner.
No matter who it is, they just want their opinion to be valid and be heard.
2. Sacrifice.
This is something that is extremely important in staying in love. You have to think about your partner and give up little things that you may want to see your partner happy.
3. Tell them your feelings.
To have a successful relationship, you can't constantly be holding things in. Good or bad, you must tell your partner how you're feeling.
4. Say "I love you."
Not too much, or it will lose its value, but not too less either, or your partner could begin to question how you really feel about them.
5. Distance makes you stronger
With infatuation, distance makes the relationship weaker, but with actual love, distance makes the heart grow fonder. I don't mean to be separated every single day, but keeping your distance and letting your partner have their own space is extremely important.
With taking these five reasons to heart, they will make your relationship last even longer. Even though they may not seem like a big matter, they are. If you really love your partner, you must do all of these things to make sure it lasts as long as it possibly can.
