Why 'The Parent Trap' Is The Best Movie Ever

Over the weekend, I was digging through all the options for a movie and couldn't decide on what to watch. Were we going to do horror? A comedy? A doc? My friend Sarah screamed "WAIT!" and we both knew exactly what we were going to watch: "The Parent Trap." Absolutely no one can hate this movie. It is literally my all time favorite movie. I could sit through an entire sitting of the film on a Friday, and do it again on Saturday and then Sunday. Quite frankly, Lindsay Lohan has never had a better role than not just Hallie, but Annie as well (did anything else actually think they were both real twins?) I'm giving you five reasons why "The Parent Trap" (1998 version) is the best movie ever.

5. The soundtrack.

It's really sad to admit, but I know almost all the lines to the movie AND the music. I could recognize a song from that movie from a mile away, not that "The Parent Trap" soundtrack would be playing in Kohl's. "Here Comes The Sun" when Hallie (her mom thought it was Annie) and her mother were walking around the streets of England shopping. Don't even get me STARTED on the song that played when Annie did the handshake with Martin. Which gets me to the next number on the list.

4. The handshake.

That entire handshake was the epitome of my entire childhood. As I kid, I attempted to learn the handshake between Annie and Martin. Unfortunately, no one would do it with me, so I had to do it with myself. And let me tell you, it's really learning a handshake using both your own hands...

3. The pranks.

I honestly cannot decide on a favorite part of the movie. One of my favorites, however, was the scene at camp when Annie and Hallie went off on each other with the pranks. How did Annie get all their furniture on the roof? How did Hallie manage to run string throughout Annie's entire cabin, fill the shelves with water balloons, and dye and spike a girls hair green without waking any of the bunkmates up? And can I say "lol" to the one boy who didn't know the summer camp was an all-girls camp. My favorite line in movie: "Morning girls!" "Morning Marvus... MARVUS?!"

2. Elizabeth James.

Natasha Richardson really did the role of Elizabeth justice. I feel like she's the best mom in the history of movie moms. She made me want her to be part of my family. Taking Annie (Hallie) out to her job to take pictures with the model was the happiest scene I've ever watched in my life (probably not). We all know Elizabeth purposely ditched the camping trip with the girls to get Nick to see Meredith's true colors.

1. Cruella De Vil.

Yes, Meredith really made "The Parent Trap." What a villain. From planning on marrying Nick for all his money to buying the little bell to get Chessy's attention, this lady was stone-cold. Did she really expect Nick to pick her over his own daughters? The mountain lions may have not got their paws on her, but the lizards and the fish definitely did. The fact that she woke up in the middle of the lake on a mattress had me rolling on the floor.

"The Parent Trap" is the best movie ever. I saw the original and let me tell you... don't watch it. I'm kidding watch it! But don't...haha. If they ever dare remake this movie again when I'm 30 years old, I'm officially done.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
