My panorama music festival experience was quite interesting. With this being my first time in New York City, I was kind of nervous but excited at the same time. My first concern was checking into the hotel and making sure everything was good to go on that end. After semi-settling in, we decided to set out for some food and begin our weekend long vacay. We arrived on Friday but didn't actually hit the festival grounds until Saturday. We needed to rejuvenate from traveling and and figure out how we would survive until our departure on Monday. After finding food spots and convenience stores, we rested up to have dinner at this drag performance restaurant called Lips. You basically had dinner while enjoying full blown drag queens perform hit songs of past and present. It was something completely new for all of us and I must say the experience was unforgettable. It's one of those things you can't really describe, you have to experience it.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the following day. Panorama day. Saturday was about food fun and fashion. We woke up and just kind of laid around before actually moving a muscle. We we're finally ready around 2 p.m. and headed to the ferry.
The idea of a festival on an island gets me super excited. I naturally love being by water, so I definitely can say the location of this festival made the experience that much better. After a few hiccups in the road we got on the ferry for a 15-minute ride to the grounds. Upon arrival you could instantly hear music bumping and feel the coolest of vibes. Everyone was there for one thing, music. To simply enjoy music while getting to experience other things like food, and interactive art. There was so much to do I literally don't think we had enough time to do it all.
There was an interactive art gallery called the future lab. We unfortunately didn't get to experience it because the lines were always way too long. But nonetheless, we still experienced some pretty cool stuff in two days.
There was this Despacio club which basically had these booming speakers and a DJ who played nothing but nonstop house music/EDM (Electronic dance music). That was probably my favorite attraction they had. Just people dancing under strobe lights and a disco ball. Strangers dancing with strangers and having nothing but a good time.
There were a few sponsorship clubs that offered special amenities and activities. We took a 360 degree photo which also came out pretty cool.
I was also featured in cosmopolitan magazine for my outfit which I must say was completely unexpected and so cool.
The best part of this entire trip however was being able to see SZA and Kendrick Lamar live. I was pretty close to the stage for both of their sets and they were absolutely amazing. Kendricks stage presence and crowd control is unmatchable. His energy was through the roof. I would definitely recommend anyone to see him live if you ever get the chance.
SZA, who is also my favorite singer, did absolutely amazing. She came with good vibes and even better energy. She gave a little speech about love and how important it is for us to give and not just receive it. She has a beautiful soul and it was an honor to be able to finally witness her greatness live.
Overall I can say I had a good time and it was indeed money well spent. There are definitely a few things that I hope the festival improves for next year, like more food choices for vegetarians and people who can't eat gluten. Nonetheless, I'm already looking forward to next year!
