As defined on google, “Wanderlust is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.” And boy, do I think I was born under that spell. Anyone else have that feeling?
If so, you’re not alone. The world is a big playground for us all!
That is why nothing kicks off the summer better than a flight which will land some place you’ve never been. My first opportunity to travel is just about to take place. And it’s needless to say that the anticipation killing me. But I hate the guessing game of "What should I pack?"
Here are a few packing tips to help you prepare for a trip to a new city:
1. Familiarize yourself with the area.
By knowing what you’re doing, packing outfits becomes easier. This can be easily done by Googling the hot spots/tourist attractions of that city. That way, it is easy to make the most of your trip by scheduling which places you’ll visit throughout your time there. Another way this can be done is by asking a friend who has already been there. No one is more helpful than a friend, when it comes to figuring out what you should do with your free time. This is because they already know what you like and what will interest you most about that city.
2. Bring a portable charger for your phone.
One thing that I have learned in my 20 years of life and numerous vacations is that your phone will die quickly. Whether you’re traveling by plane or car, the best way to pass your time is by being on your phone and a portable charger will legitimately save your life.
However, remember that once you get to where you’re going to get off your phone and experience what life is like there. Don’t get caught up on your phone and miss out on everything around you.
3. Don’t forget your camera.
Yes, I know it’s 2016 and everyone loves to solely take pictures on their phones. But nothing can beat the quality of a photos taken by a camera. Plus, a camera makes you way more of an official tourist.
4. Never forget to bring toiletries
Is it just me or are toiletries the last thing on mind when packing? Zillions of outfits and shoes later, and you have a full bag and yet you remember that you probably need things to, I don’t know, shower with?
5. A light jacket really is necessary (even in the summer).
Corny, I know but for real bringing one will help. Weather radars can be unpredictable sometimes and being from the South, we are used to the heat and humidity. Therefore, going somewhere without that humidity may be a bit of a shock. So bring one, it won’t take up that much room in your suitcase.
Traveling is fun and exciting, but
packing is probably the worst. It means I have to plan out what to wear for
each day and am only allowed a tiny suitcase and a carry on, is it even
possible? The answer is yes. Following these tips will help you pack your bags
with ease.
